Great effort by 7. Much more energetic format.

Camera angles much better than last year - none of those baffling long pans from the top of the grandstand.

Enjoyed BT and Lingy. Didn't think Kirk added much. Don't rate Darcy as an analyst.

Bottom line though, their coverage won't be credible unless it's in HD.

Not overly impressed. Part of this is down to Brian Taylor who may actually be the worst commentator in all of football, including Dwayne Russell.

Here's a few tips for you BT:

You're not funny, so don't try to be.
You're not smart, so don't try to be.
They're called 'hands', not dukes.
There's two teams out there, not one.
Would be helpful if you learned the names of the players you're calling.

Graphics were nothing special.

Innovation? What apart from the casual dress of Ling and Kirk? The in-game interview of Kevin Sheedy which was distracting for him and the viewers, and went far too long? Or was it the in-game interview with Steve Waugh, aka he most overrated Australian of all time?

Hopefully they get better. Discovering HD might help.

Graphics 2/10 --- nice effort, however without HD, it is useless.
Commentators 5/10 --- the "special comments" were...laughable. BT needs to lift.
Camera work 4/10 --- fine, but not HD, so not worth it
Innovation 0/10 --- not HD, so they cannot even get THAT right
Enjoy ability 7/10 --- only because I LOVE the footy.

Overall 20/50

A resounding FAILURE.

Without HD, Seven have damaged their brand and will damage the AFL.

If the AFL is happy for Seven to provide the feeds for international channels (ESPN etc) that are all completely HD, then they are worse than I thought.

Hopefully they get better. Discovering HD might help.

That will never happen :rolleyes::rolleyes:

we will jsut give the international stations standard def rubbish make our game look sub-standard, third-world class :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

very poor quality broadcast, brought a new 50 inch Plasma for the start of the footy season and was very disappointed with the quality of cameras. Looked blurry when the ball was kicked long and you couldn't see which players were which until they went to a close up view. Will be getting FOX hD switched on from now on (that's probably why they made it so crap).

Unfortunately the broadcast from Fox Footy HD was also very poor.

While they must have tried to upscale it, it was still sub-par and very poor.

Seven refuses to do HD so any game that they do will be terrible, even on Fox HD.

Agree with this, it drives me crazy doing in game interviews with players and coaches and now steve waugh, none of them ever say anything interesting and all of them give stock standard answers so there is no point talking to them. Just show the game and leave all that other rubbish for later. Its not innovative its just crap that we can do without.

Graphics 7/10 --- nice and and clean. not as crisp without HD
Commentators 5/10 --- BT didn't know any GWS players names. needs to do some research. like any new teams, they need some time to gel.
Camera work 8/10 --- did the job.
Innovation 7/10 --- nothing new here really. but still an ok production. lack of HD is disappointing
Enjoy ability 7/10 --- commentary and lack of HD brought it down.

34/50 - PASS

the claim 'every game live in HD' from Fox is looking a bit like false advertising at this stage

The team names take up a lot of space down the bottom of the screen and were distracting. Surely they don't need to put the full names in

the casual dress was interesting - dont know how long that will last.

i agree with this haha kirky and lingy looked shocking

on another point - i hard ever watch NRL but was up late last night and saw Nine's intro to Sunday football and there general telecast. It was shocking maybe we are complaining for the sake of complaining?

one thing i didnt quite get was the set...

okay looked great at the start with the desk etc......but then at half time and post match they want to some cheap table? Wtf...

Youh ave gone to the effort to get it there why only use it for a moment then all the sudden stand around a pub table...................

that was my wtf moment for the night.

Graphics 8/10 Like the new graphics and colours on their scoreboard
Commentators 7/10 Is it just me or did BT sound less energetic than he did a few seasons back?
Camera work 8/10 Nothing wrong with it. Desperatley needs HD though.
Innovation 8/10 New social app is a good idea
Enjoy ability 9/10 Even though the game was one sided it was still quite enjoyable.

Overall 40/50

I'm wondering whether they only used the full team names for the GWS game, considering a lot of the audience may have been first-time AFL viewers? Can't see that happening for all games but I might be wrong.
I did like the graphics though, and the presentation is slick.

Agree with above poster, the Saturday night team is quite a strong one.
