Alright here goes, this is my first time playing SuperCoach from Round 1.

Backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Broughton, J.Grimes, Otten, Heppell. (Coad, D.Stanley, Duigan)

Mids: Swan(Capt), Bartel, Gilbee, Pavlich, Swallow, Conca. (Prestia, Mzungu, Atley)

Rucks: Jolly, Warnock. (Smith, Lycett)

Forwards: N.Riewoldt(Vcapt), Franklin, Rioli, Goodes, Higgins, Petrie, Krakouer. (Richardson, Matera, Calinan)

Only have 7,000 left so not much to work on.

Forget Lycett. Wont get a game unless Nic or Cox go down.
Even then Lynch will probably take the mantle of second ruck untill Lycett gets bigger in a year or two.

Traded Gilbee for Ryan O'Keefee and Gave Pavlich the Flick for Hayes/Might switch to Didak.
I know warnock is risky but it's the best i can do within the salary cap, unless i got rid of Jolly and went with a Tippett/Natanui Combo which i really wouldn't do.

- On your team your backline looks pretty solid except i'm not sure of Puopolo.

Midfield looks Good with Swan/Hodge. Get Pendlebury or Dal Santo instead of Murphy. Foley is an excellent pick for the price but maybe Upgrade Dan Harris when you get the money (I'm liking Conca)

Rucks are fine but as previously stated Petrie won't play round 1 / 3 So i'd make sure you have a solid backup option in the ruck.

Forward line i've got nothing much to say, looks pretty solid. Maybe go with the cheaper option of chapman and pick up Didak/Green so you can upgrade Knights. Not too sure about him.

Overall it's a great team.

Pretty happy with Murphy and Chapman, rookies arent set in stone so can always make changes there(Re: Puopolo).

As I see it Green and Didak are good scorers however, there is basically no hope of either of them playing 22 games next year which is vital considering byes.

Same can be said for Chapman, but when a guy is averaging 116 it's not as big of an issue as a Didak averaging 100.So I'm willing to take that risk.

To be honest I'm not so sure in Knights either, however he was my best option is my structure and I'm fairly confident of one of my bench players being able to average 70+ if the Knights experiment fails.

Once again I hate to pick holes but Hayes is just not a good pick. He's expensive and his averages are on the way down & aging. He does not compete with the 110+ scorers of the comp that you're going need as keepers come Round 24 if you want to be successful.

Yet to see what you're rationale behind Conca is...did nothing in the NAB games but yeah he could be a good pick as he's done well in previous competitions hes played in. And to leave out Harris is probably the worst call anybody could make. Will average 85+ no doubts.

Also with Prestia and Mzungu giving you MPP abilities you DO NOT need ROK in the Mids!!!!!

Pick a keeper midfielder who will average 110+

That is all.

Terrible advice. Murphy is a great option, he can't afford another Saints or Pies player come their bye weekends.

You need two premium rucks simple as that.

And you're not too sure about Knights but you have Conca, Higgins, Grimes, Otten, Heppell, Petrie and Krakouer all starting?

Murphy had only 5 sub 100 scores last season with the lowest being 75..just love his consistency and as you said takes away the bye issues.

Hate to ask direct questions and come across as completely picking someone else's thoughts but what how would you suggest I tackle this ruck problem

EDIT: I'm more than happy to change my bench/emergeny players (whatever you want to call them), but due to my minimal cash remaining, implementing changes amongst my starters will probably be difficult.

You get rid of some players that aren't needed and upgrade. Players like Foley, Petrie and Krakouer can be traded for away for rookies and you can pick up any rucks you like.

Got to the top 500 last year with a very conservative team & approach. This year is different. I am a bit iffy on Gray, but I don't think selecting Knights will get me anywhere (Since he belongs to everyone). Plus with 24 trades, you can chop and change more than before. Those two, Drummond & Gray, could change before the season commences depending on injury status.

Your team is solid good denfece mids are good but i think we have the same prblem alot of forwards who can play mid but no mids who can play forward.

Other than Deledio, re-do your whole backline.

Put Goddard in defense, keep Bartel and Pendles, re adjust the rest. Swallow should be your 5th or 6th starter.

Ruck is very weak, have one if not both of Sandilands and Jolly.

Forward line keep Riewoldt, Franklin, Silvia. Bradshaw is finished, Watts is tempting and so is Zaha.

Also check the rookie threads on here to pick your benches..

Roosters girl.

The simple approach is get the best players you can in each line that you like, and then fill the rest of the places with rookies. It is called the gun / rookie strategy and is probably the best approach when starting out.

IE, in defence you would want:

Goddard, Deledio, Gibbs at a minimum

Middle:

Swan, Judd, Montagna etc then the rest rookies

Rucks

Two premiums, such as Cox and Sandilands

Forwards

Again premiums, Chapman, Frankin, Didak etc

Work from that frame and then if you can afford it stack more premiums in as price permits. Just look at the list and determine best players then do your homework on which rookies will play most of the year in each position. For rucks, just have 1 good backup, the other is not so important.

Swanny id say its got the right foundation.. just needs some tidy up.

i would swap Thomas for Heppell to get the MPP with the BL and then start 1 of Heppell/Harris (they will be good enough) then you have Contin and him too cover the first rd
4 prems and 2 rookies is the way to go in the mids.

YOu have 4 mpp players in your fwd line but none to link them too in the mids...alternativily you could swap Krackhead for Thomas.

I would replace Isle with Mzungu imo

fwds too weak and backs too heavy.... you have to have Otten then you upgrade a players in your fwds

D: Hurley is an interesting pick IMO, im not sold on his ability to score in SC.

O: Good solid side IMO, maybe watch the forward line. With a few weeks between now and round 1, just tinker as you see fit, with injuries etc.

looks a reasonable side, maybe downgrade one of the rucks to bolster the fwds.

Here's my LOCKED 22. Going with premiums or cows only this year. Looking at a league win so I don't need to peak early. Will probably tweak the rookies a bit before Round 1 based on who gets picked.

B: Goddard, Deledio, Broughton, Enright, Grimes, Otten, Heppell (Toy, Hibberd, Duigan)
M: Judd, Gibbs, Gaff, Polec, Conca, Atley (Swallow, Prestia, Harris)
R: Sandilands, Cox (Fraser, Derickx)
F: Chapman, Riewodlt, Franklin, Pavlich, Sylvia, Higgins, Mzunga (Richardson, Matera, Callinan)

Intresting tactic you've taken. Everyone's rookies are pretty similar.

I think you have invested way too much in your forward line and not enough in your midfield. Your biggest problem will be in Round 8 when you have Judd and Gibbs out. You will be left with only the rookies (or the players I assume you have upgraded to). I saw an intresting tactic previously:

5-4-2-4 . So with your team I would probabllly say move Gibbs to the backline (maybe for Broughton) and downgrade one of Pavlich or Sylvia to another rookie and spend the cash on a elite midfielder like a Swan or Ablett ?
