I don't get why AFL numbers have such thin outlines. The whole point is to help the numbers be legible, make them at least twice as thick. Although, if I was attempting the design, I would cut the sash above and below the numbers to leave that space yellow.

Its was a thing in the 2000s, if it works why not use it.
Or Richmond admit the back sash is too much

Problem would be that you'd have to cut the sash to accommodate the widest pair of digits. So that might look good for 33 but there would be lots of space around 1 or 7.

Quickly mocked this up, you would have thought something like this would've been the first idea if wanting to bring the sash onto the back

It actually wouldn't have been that much of an issue if the yellow was that colour. Problem is is that it's much lighter and brighter, which really doesn't help the contrast

Hawks should be in their brown “legends” kit (with brown shorts) today. Very effective as an alternative home kit in matchups like today’s and also isn’t just some forgettable clash guernsey in that it actually honours a traditional/heritage look from their history.

Only messy options yeah. Would Charcoal and white shorts be any better?
Cant have yellow on orange surely
