It seems clear to me there was not enough training under pressure during the pre-season. The fumbling is unbelievable. We'd be maybe 2 goals down if we could handle the ball cleanly.

Please make the substitution now JL and start Erasmus in the second half. Not with 5 minutes left in the 3rd when we are 50-60 points down.

Who are they going to train against. The whole team is soft.

I'm so glad I came to Brisbane to watch this.

Seriously. Being able to see the whole game unfold just reinforces how off the whole game plan is, plus how much our players are struggling with it. It stifles the natural instinct of so many of them.

If it wasn't for Serong, Darcy and Switta this would be brutal end to end watching with zero positives.

Walters is the only forward creating leads, running himself into the ground and being ignored.

Injured players too - Ryan is cooked, can't push off his right leg, slow as treacle and awkward kicking motion not like past years. Brayshaw is hobbled, and Pearce is just gimpy off that left ankle. Yet we leave Ryan on almost all game and keep taking Cox off.

Darcy was marking everything in the first half last week. Had five contested marks then decided his quota for the year was met and has done nothing since.

This current style of play only needs to click for a quarter and a half and we will over run the Lions.

But I don't see that happening
So we've at least got some speed on the ball (or an attempt to)?

I'd genuinely rather us get thrashed playing a way that could give us a chance to win over chipping it around safely for a 20pt loss.

Nah we’ll give it a shot next time. Gotta get through our huge choke loss as favourites at home next week, first.
Reckon we'll be 1.70 favourites at best (well we should be).

Also, we are going to have plenty of chances for the upset win in the next month or so.

Would love to see Young and Clark to the wings, leave Banfield and JOM rotating out of deep forward pockets and get Walters, Schultz and Switta rotating through the contest.

Brisbane have missed so many sitters, but the freak goal from the pocket leaping kick was awesome.

I think the softness comes from the coach and training. If they were being coached by Clarkson or Lyon, they wouldn't appear so soft.

Training reports seemed to be a lot of A versus B team scratchies, and I'm guessing the B team was instructed to not try and injure the A team.

Lmao other teams can play chip chip right through us, it’s our primary style and we suck iat it.
This is precisely our issue.
The intent today has been aggressive, which is great. But Agrees I've doesn't have to mean a bazillion handballs ... it actually makes it harder for the forwards as we run them out of position. Not to mention it invites pressure and we will inevitably get caught.

When we kick, we can still be aggressive. Need to take the forward option more and back our skulls to hit inboard kicks when they arise.

Johnson has hit a few today and the one from Sturt to Serong is exactly what we need. Might not come off 100% of the time, but the intensity opens up all sorts of options.
