Young team, very little chemistry, appear unfit. All of it's fixable. Johnson will be our midfield bull. This side's going to be very good, but not this year. This year we will try things and fail. We will occaisionally look great for 5 mins, and then be s**t again. Brisbane are rolled-gold. Perfect age range, perfect regards main core playing together, talent on all lines; no idea when anyone is surprised we're being spanked.
JOM will be good, but going to take a season to fit in, ditto Jackson, Amiss, Johnson. Brisbane are 4-6 years ahead of us. And don't give me "Ashcroft is killing it and he's young". Of course he is; he's playing in the best team in the league and is protected by Neale, Mccluggage and Dunkley. Plus he's gun, but even Hughes would look good in there with that cast.
Sit back, relax and don't let football ruin your year.

They played very instinctively the first quarter. They just didn't have the skill to pull it off. When you do that consistently and the ball keeps going back the other way because of your constant turnovers, you go back in your shell so you don't have to keep chasing.I'm so glad I came to Brisbane to watch this.
Seriously. Being able to see the whole game unfold just reinforces how off the whole game plan is, plus how much our players are struggling with it. It stifles the natural instinct of so many of them.
If it wasn't for Serong, Darcy and Switta this would be brutal end to end watching with zero positives.
Walters is the only forward creating leads, running himself into the ground and being ignored.
Injured players too - Ryan is cooked, can't push off his right leg, slow as treacle and awkward kicking motion not like past years. Brayshaw is hobbled, and Pearce is just gimpy off that left ankle. Yet we leave Ryan on almost all game and keep taking Cox off.
What the dropped marks?♂This is what we were training.
All the carton mids had 30+ touches last week. They lost.Acres had 36 possessions and took 11 marks last week.
He'd be our best mid.
Ha ha. Well they mastered that bit. What the dropped marks?♂

I just find it funny how so many of us, who have no idea what goes on behind the walls of Freo, default everything to 'sack the coach'.Are the players invested if not why not buck stops with the coach.
The alternative is what has happened to WC. Hard to find a balance.I think the softness comes from the coach and training. If they were being coached by Clarkson or Lyon, they wouldn't appear so soft.
Training reports seemed to be a lot of A versus B team scratchies, and I'm guessing the B team was instructed to not try and injure the A team.
Not one single chain of play was instinctive, especially out of the backline they waited, waited, waited, ignored the runners, handballed backwards and then dropped marks under pressure because they kept kicking to outnumbered contests. They played very instinctively the first quarter. They just didn't have the skill to pull it off. When you do that consistently and the ball keeps going back the other way because of your constant turnovers, you go back in your shell so you don't have to keep chasing.
So we've at least got some speed on the ball (or an attempt to)?
I'd genuinely rather us get thrashed playing a way that could give us a chance to win over chipping it around safely for a 20pt loss.
Reckon we'll be 1.70 favourites at best (well we should be).
Also, we are going to have plenty of chances for the upset win in the next month or so.
Lol cox has actually been worse than Pearce. Going to mention others too, like nod who hasn't been sightedOther than the fact almost the whole team has lost their confidence there was a few things I liked.
Sturt showed some nouse around goal. Hasn’t come off yet but promising.
Johnson has some real craft & skills. Great at getting his hands free.
Jackson is busy & doing some good things.
Liking Walker’s game.
Unfortunately though:
Shultz is back to his worst. Liability.
Amiss is outmatched in size, strength, experience.
Banfield & Hughes doing there usual worse than nothing.
Pearce is a shadow of himself. Liability.
Cox & Ryan aren’t quite as bad as Pearce but not far off. I never thought I’d say it but I wish we had Logue back. Bizarre Wilson can’t crack a game in this crap shoot.
Will give it another 10 minutes then I’m out if we don’t show something. I don’t care & I hate that. The sunshine calls.
Have you not been watching the delivery they are getting it’s none existentNot much ******* good being dangerous if you're not kicking or setting up goals.
Can't agree. We are some of the weakest tacklers in the comp. Can't will a hard ball the longer the contest goes. Very few repeat efforts. Soft in the air. Soft in the head. I think it is a mindset this year. Easy or no dice seems to be the motto. They weren't last year, and same players. We're missing some grunt in the middle, and because we aren't marking the ball is coming back quickly. The team is gassed, not soft.

And MundyThink it's very understated how big of a loss Carr has been to our midfield
What happened to Johno?Shame about Johnno, he's dropped a few sitters but he's been in the thick of everything it seems today. Easily his best game so far
