Looks like Melb are back in town. They are not the same side that Ess belted by 10 goals a few rounds back.

I guess if we get over the line in the coming weeks then we know we go into finals in form.
Feels like we are making up numbers outside of the Top 4 - hope I'm wrong.

While everyone seemed to be struggling with the wind on Sat, Yassir had no such difficulty. Made me look up her stats and I found her accuracy over her career was a staggering 70%. (23.10). Conversely I was a bit horrified with MonCon given her phenomenal skills - 37% (20.34).

You can bet it will be blowing a gale down at Casey.
Mon can be wasteful, but that's largely because of her speed and oppo pressure. She is not on her own in our side. How many times do we watch Egan put it straight down the throat of unattended oppo.

I still can't get my head around Sheerin not getting drafted until she was 29.

I don't know the exact number of players including those drafted and delisted that ended up at a club during the time she was trying to get on a list but its unbelievable that clubs didn't think she was in the top 600 players or so until we picked her.

I'm told that it only took a few training sessions for the club to think that she would be hard to leave out of R1.

R1 v Geelong 2022 - 19 disposals, 17 contested, 5 marks, 4 tackles, 407m gained.

Staggering.

I've seen good movies made from worse stories.

There are still raw parts in her game that make me think she can get even better.

Richmond v Geelong

10 Aishling Moloney (GEEL)
6 Monique Conti (RICH)
6 Emelia Yassir (RICH)
4 Poppy Kelly (RICH)
3 Rebecca Webster (GEEL)
1 Eilish Sheerin (RICH)

Like I posted earlier. Conti hit the post twice and had a cat defender got a finger tip to one on the goal line.
Could’ve easily been
27 disp, 13 Cont, 5 tackles, 4 goals

Not a bad game

We picked Charley Ryan ahead of her as well at #38
Bit risky looking back on it

I'm glad Ferg gave Moloney 5 votes as some coaches sometimes give votes with rose coloured glasses. Clearly BOG.

Yep, it was a massive game, as it turned out not game changing per se, but you could see how, with subtle changes to her game she could have won the game for Geelong.

To be fair, she was pursuing a professional soccer career early on - she was semi-professional in that code, working and trying to get a break. I posted something here a couple of season's back.

It is but W at elite level is still in its infancy with recruiting resource pretty wafer thin, was thinking how much better when the draft goes national and all clubs get exposure to sanfl and WAFL players coming thru also . It’s a credit we found her tbh

Yeah I know but she was under the noses of Giants staff for at least a couple of years including a stint as a train on player.

Maybe they operate like the old old VFL recruiting system where they had scouts in areas as eyes and the reward for ringing through info on players to Graeme Richmond was a sack of footballs for the club.
