This is for the people on here who are involved in the RDFL, any interesting goings on around the league.
Once again, if you have an issue with this comp.... Dont write here, plenty of other threads you can attempt to destroy if you like.

Preliminary Final this week, Diggers Rest Vs Romsey, the winner to take on Riddell in the Grand Final.
Should be a great game this week. Diggers demolished Romsey a couple of weeks ago but it wasn't Romsey's day. Wont happen again with Diggers missing Jeremy Jose and possibly Jeff Heritage, Steve Grey is not 100 percent either.
Riddell took Diggers apart last week, and Romsey were awesome against Centrals.
Question will be if Diggers can match the Romsey big guys, Connellan, Meldrum and Morgan will be tough to shut down again, if Lefty and Sims can fire and Bev Green and Dan Reilly can shut down the guns then Diggers will be a huge chance.
Shane Marchewka has been playing pretty good footy for Diggers and will also be a key.
Romsey for me, the big guns may just be too much for the Burra to handle.
Romsey by 4 goals.
In the 2's Romsey has been in great form and should be able to get over a Diggers side that played some fantastic football last week.
The U/18's will almost be the game of the day, Woodend and Macedon have had some great battles over the past couple of years and this one will be no exception.
I would like to see Macedon get over the top, I think Rob is one of the unluckiest coaches going around, and this Macedon side deserves a crack at Riddell in the GF.

Someone asked before...

Fantastic game on the weekend with Romsey easily beating Diggers for the right to take on Riddell in the Grand Final.
Romsey dominated all day with Brydon Morgan easily outplaying his opponent and Al Meldrum finding some form, will be a great game this Sunday down at Lancefield.

Anyone got any B&F results yet? And if anyone here from Lancefield... How did Chris Collins go at Bendigo this year?

Thanks Ben

I'm going to be busy at the Eastern FL GF at Bayswater on Saturday, so I might try and stick my head in there for a while on Sunday!

unfortunately the U/18 game didn`t turn out to be such a big match, woodend just looked to sore and stiff from their physical encounter last week against the undefeated Riddel. From all news around the woodend club, with such a young group of senior players this year( something like 9 under 18's were regular seniors) it has brought attention to the club and a large amount of 18-19-20 year olds from clubs such as kyneton and gisborne are signing up next year. Could be another exciting year for the Hawks.

Players You Find It Tough Against

What players do we find it hard to play against? Being from Rockbank seniors, we find it hard against everyone.

I have played with Rockbank all my life, enjoy it throughly. Although we lose each week, I find it very enjoyable.

I can't believe how much Macedon beat Woodend by. The Hawks would have to be the most physical side in the 18s and I thought their physicality would give them an edge against a hard running Macedon outfit.

The Riddell FC will be extremely proud of its efforts this season and should be taking home two premiers, although anything can happen in GFs.

My selections: Riddell to beat Romsey by 32 points and Riddell to beat Macedon by 37 points.

x boy x, from what i gather you are a rockbank boy, i am just wondering why it is that rockbank struggles so much, you seem to have full squads but still dont get many results on the board.we always viewed rockbank and sunbury roos as the same sort of clubs who really struggled, but now sunbury is taking that next step and becoming a top competitor. so why do you think you are struggling and will the future improve? also if you keep your u/18`s together for 5-6 more years i believe you will improve BIGTIME>

i being from woodend u/18 find macedon to be the toughest opponents, considering both sides all school together it makes for an extremely physical and tense match, yellow and red cards are not rare..So yeah macedon for me.

Yes I to find Macedon very physical, although sometimes not in the right way... Conversano can be dirty.. My toughest opponent from Macedon would be whylie, have played on him since 18's. He always seems to be there and abouts.

yeah i think commerford did a knee, so i think that may be why he has gone a little quiet of late.

Xie or myself can both tell you that the U18's will not be sticking together for the future. I agree with your comments, cause if we stuck together, we would be quiet a decent team. But a lot of us will unfortunately be leaving Rockbank next year.

And Sunbkan.. Jason Welfare won our B&F (U18's) with Henners coming in as runner-up.

Mate, the seniours talk about who they f*cked the night before at training and discuss their underwear they are wearing. You honestly cannot expect a bunch of wannabees to perform. And I can't imagine us 18s staying together next year. My guess is that only 50% will be at the club next year and from that 50% only about 25% will be playing seniours. I'm not even sure if I will be playing next year.

Diggers Rest coach Glenn Hopkins last night won the coach of the year award for the Western Region and has now been nominated for the state award. He won coach of the year for the RDFL a couple of weeks back.

Why is there such a big gulf between the senior side and the 18's ? Is it the coaching staff don't get along or what ? What do you want a new senior coach ? Will this fix the issues with 18's and seniors ?

Don't really know why. I guess it started rite back at the start of the year when the committee forced us to train with the seniors, and wern't given any of the ground. Except for the part which had no lights at the time. Our coach was not too pleased that we couldn't do our sessions as a team. And also mid year there was a board meeting about our coach cause he used innapropriate language at a half time speach or some crap like that and they were considering sacking him (I'm sure theres more too it). Which then us U18's said if he goes we all walk too. Apart from that theres not really much else I can think off. But from my point of view, I didn't feel apart of the club. I felt like it was just us 18's, the coach, and few other people like Carroll. I know I won't play there again, and neither will more then half of the other 18's.

geez thats quite unfortunate about the club, well all you rockbank boys are welcome to come down to woodend, at woodend all three clubs do half the training session together then we break down into our three sides and do our own little thing. So yeah if any of u boys wanna venture down our way your more then welcome.plus all three teams get aloong really really well.

Well, after being undeafeted all year, Riddel choke in the Grand Final and lose to Macedon by about 2 goals I think it was.

Was the Mark Andrews that won the B.O.G. medal the same bloke that ran around at Heathcote a few years back?
