Who flew players in? You are completely misinformed.
Ok then with that comment if it’s incorrect then please disregard as I was clearly given wrong info
But it doesn’t take away that the club is seriously struggling
They have kicked I think 27 goals for the entire season so far , sorry that’s unheard of and a huge concern.
Why if this club is apparently well off financially are they are a complete basket case on the field?
And it’s not just been for this season it’s been a long long time !
Can anyone tell me the last time they played on finals or didn’t finish bottom 2 ?
Can anyone tell me if the long serving president is still about ?
As I’ve heard plenty regarding him but won’t say anything until it’s confirmed.

I get every side has there ups and downs , but this club unfortunately hasn’t even come close to being a competitive unit in such a long time that surely the rdfl would be slightly concerned ?
How do diggers do it ?
How do Riddell continually stay around the mark ?
I think wallan do it well , lancefeild had a horror few seasons but looking much more competitive these days and will only improve again next year
Woodend have built back up to be a strong team
Macedon have dropped out of contention now with more focus on less spending on football department and more funds going into the netball players and running the dodgiest raffle of all time.

But the rams they are just your pencil 4 points for the win against week in week out and plenty of sides rest a lot of players against them yet still account easily for them

What’s the solution ?
And before anyone has a little sook over any of this I’m sure they have some fantastic people behind the scenes busting their asses week in week out , it’s the football department side of things that needs a giant shake up !

They need to stop recruiting WRFL Div 3 players and start recruiting players from higher divisions. Rather pay overs for a Div 1 talent than a Div 3 spud.

The problem with Rockbank is they are coming from so far back. If the league wants to help them, give them 60 player points. Then reduce their points by 2 points every year they don’t finish last.

The new coach has done a reasonable job recruiting (albeit went for volume this year - which I would have too) but due to player points he can’t play his best side. They have the money, they have the volunteers, facilities aren’t great but ground is ok.

More points could mean better performances and then maybe they may climb the ladder.

If not, change leagues - go Div 3 and build the list. They’ll be very competitive there and can gradually climb the ranks…

RDFNL needs clubs, so they should do more to support rams in my view.

Also I think they made finals 2017

You’d think with Gisborne giants fielding a senior team next year they would be the replacement team for the rams if they leave for the WRFL one day. Wonder if Sunbury Kangas will come back eventually? Or even East Sunbury?

Only won 2 games that year but played finals in 2014, losing first week of the finals to Riddell. Then went downhill after that year. 10 years without finals.
Was there a mass player exodus at some stage

There has to be something seriously wrong there ?
10 years straight of absolute beltings with not a hint of improvement.
Look at Castlemaine and who they have got onboard to start the rebuild next season , it shows it’s possible you just need the right people onboard to make it happen

I doubt kangas or east Sunbury would come across , but can see once giants come in with full senior set up I think that will be the end of the rams in rdfl
I hope I’m proven wrong and it all starts to turn around , guess time will tell.

Question and thoughts about the Giants entry, where are they going to find and pay for 45 senior players? Would it not have been a better option to step their entry. Have the next next two years In ressies and then proceed with seniors after that?

I obviously don’t have all the answers but having lived in Gisborne for 17 yrs I don’t see it being anything but a struggle.

I don’t see it being an issue
They certainly won’t be world beaters in first couple of years but I would expect them to rise through the ranks very quickly !
It didn’t take strath very long in bfl to climb the ladder with starting from scratch
With a whole new club it creates a whole lot of new Leeds and contacts for sponsors etc , and there will be sponsors that will support the giants and the dogs in the bfl
The place is growing rapidly and will easily support both sides
On a side note didnt the builder go broke who was completing works for the new ground and building and left the project half done ?
Can anybody shed any light on that ?

New mob has already start d on the build after being appointed. But this is all for only clubhouse and 1 ground which is stage 1 and really not good enough to sustain two clubs in a decent sized town

In a sign how low the Rams are viewed as competition Diggers Rest is going to play 3 kids from their under 17 team in the seniors today. To had some context Diggers Rest under 17s are on bottom of the bgrade comp ladder having only one win to their name.

But I’m sure they have a few kids who go well and great experience

Over the past week, I keep hearing Gisborne is headed to the Ballarat league and Kyneton will find a new home in the RDFNL.
Nothing or no-one is forcefully ruling it out since the talk began.
There is a suggestion that Gisborne may be announcing their new home as early as mid to late this week.

Change has been called for in a number of regions for more than five years now and I get the feeling that AFL Central Victoria will be the first region to act. From there, other regions will follow its lead.

Makes sense that Gisborne go - home crowds when they play darley / marsh / Sunbury / Melton instead of the tumbleweed crowds the bendigo League serves up

Are we going back to the future?
Gisborne to play the old RDFL clubs??
Get on the phone to Craigieburn and Sunbury Kangaroos. Then you could call it RDFNL Mk2. Nothing wrong with a conversation.

It will make the BFL very interesting with six Ballarat clubs and six eastern clubs. Gisborne's match day revenue will rise notably with the higher crowds from the return of traditional rivalry matches. Geographically, they are better suited to the Ballarat league. I think the future focus for the Bendigo league will be more to the north and none of their clubs will be located south of Taradale. I would expect Maryborough to go into the MCDFNL in the next few years.

Imagine how good the Riddell league would be now if they had been able to keep Melton, Melton South, Gisborne, Darley and Sunbury and had been able to get Bacchus Marsh in and then add Kyneton into the mix! Unfortunately, the sliding door went a different way.

It is interesting to see how well the RDFNL have progressed, innovated and evolved since exiting the afl golden rivers hub ( is that even a thing anymore?)
They have really taken there own destiny into their own hands, changing from bring a vic country league to alignment with vic metro, which imo reflects the changed demographic of their playing and recruiting areas whilst they still manage to retain that country footy feel, they have got very capable and driven younger people in control of the day to day running and promotion of the league, maximising multiple social media platforms, the maintenance and growth and promotion of strong links between the junior and senior comps, really seem to put themselves front and centre as a good place to be

They appear from the outside to have things pretty well in order and run things the way they want for their benefit

I would love to see the Sunbury kangas go back but I doubt it will happen. The grass is greener in div 2 EDFL it seems

What are people's thoughts on the Gisborne kyneton league swaps

I think the Gisborne to Ballarat makes sense, more people to to home games, especially the closer clubs, big day Gisborne v Sunbury. And especially with melton now being very strong it makes sense financially as well.

As does the kyneton move to rdfnl.
There will be kyneton locals who think they aretoo good for this comp. But I think from a financial POV and a different recruiting opportunity it makes sense.

I just asked on the be divorced forum, if many bendigo supporters travel down, I'm not too sure does anyone else on here know? I'd assume not as we are all at our rdfnl venues at the same time.

But I would imagine a bigger crowd at kyneton at their home when they play a Macedon, Woodend or riddell or any of those teams compared to a travelling Bendigo based team.

That just makes sense to me from a financial point.

Then also not having to travel to Bendigo every 2nd week, would help retain players and attract players.
If a melb based player wants to play for them, and they say an away game is in melton, rockbank diggers, surely that's better than Bendigo?

How good would a grand final day be at kyneton, grand stand full, good sized oval. Just need better netball facilities.

Would be a great venue.

Surprised the league don't ask to use that oval as a mutual venue. Easily paroled and access from 2 gates. And the junior oval for parking as well lime Lancefield old days.
