Kyneton with another great signing :fireemoji::fireemoji::fireemoji:

Welcome home Charlie Thompson!
Charlie played at Kyneton as a junior before moving down to boarding school, where he played for Caulfield Grammar in the prestigious APS competition. After injury derailed his 2024 season with Uni blues, the tall rebounding defender has decided to come back up the freeway and sign with us full time for season 2025. At 19 years old and already having some senior football experience behind him we can’t wait to see what this young man can do next year and beyond!

Handy pick up, but well past his best. Nolan will be kept busy keeping these recruits discipline. Gun coach so I would back him in, but questionable recruiting
certainly been a very good player down this way but do wallan not have any decent kids coming up from under 17 or 19? seems committee and sponsors hell bent on going older when many seem to say legspeed in September is the missing piece.

I dont fall into the coach owning the list siuation. sure he may have links to people of that age but executives or even sponsors say yes or no to who gets offered not the coach.

the league comparison always fascinating but have to agree that riddell/Rupertwood at a pinch lands 3-5 in the division below edfl premier. no one else would.

Sam Darley announced at Melton South.

Lost a few Sunshine has. I've heard first hand from an ex Sunshine player quite a few don't rate the coach one bit.

Surprising given winning the flag after being comfortably 2nd best to Albion 3 times during the year. Must have something going for him.

Hey Auck, would you be able to post the story on here for those who don't have access to the Sun? Cheers mate.

Unfortunately mate we're no longer allowed to post whole News ltd. articles.

I agree Turbo. Reckon Riddell would be mid pack in the Bendigo league but would struggle against Ballarat sides. Good thing is for this league, the only way is up. Hopefully I can be apart of it again one day.

I would say RDFL is more comparable to HDFNL or Hampden.

Best way to align rdfl is against edfl Div 1. In my view last year Riddell would have finished second.

Yes maybe. Their players from Rupo which helped Rupo to a preliminary in 23 + you've got the blokes who were already in the Riddell side to begin with. It's still hard to gauge though. Maybe the fitness may become a factor as EDFL quarters are longer. But I'd say Riddell would be top 4 or close to it. The others like Wallan Macedon Diggers a little further down the chain. The rest division 2 but strong sides.
We will likely never know though. Lol.

Very big and slow forward line with Bellino & Cloke. Possibly throw in Carlise and that 3 talls not overly keen on working the other way. Not sure recruiting Cloke is helping them.

Can’t wait to see Micallef vs Tarczon. Now that’s well worth the $10 entry. 👊
Tarczon is still turning games. Micallef is running on the spot

Outside of Galea who took 1/3 of the year to find his rhythm the rupo blokes had zero influence. Riddell best players are criminally underrated as are Wallan and diggers.

Micallef still a dangerous player and hard as they come. Both very similar type players after I watched Tarczon in the GF.

Yes agree good judgement I reckon. EDFL top sides slightly younger and sides like Riddell, Wallan etc more bigger bodied, so more leg speed as you mentioned in edfl div1. But think Riddell would have been top 4-5 in edfl div1 2024.

The competition has come a long way in not a long time. It's great to see.

Any recruits for Diggers? They have been quiet lately.

For mine, Riddell finish 3-5 without the Rupo boys. Their twos finish mid table and the 19.5s stay near the bottom of the ladder.

Unluckiest players on B & F night were Grabham and Fowler who was deemed good enough to be rated as the best senior defender, but not for TOTY.

Grabham was great all year and definitely could’ve had a bench spot on team of the year.

Not sure why Huntley from Kyenton can get in off 10 games Whereas Fowler from Wallan played every game for Wallan in the Home and Away season playing very well in the second best defence in the league, and the addition of said award.

Team of the year voted on by the coaches so would of thought opposition coaches rated Huntley above Fowler.
