3 one pointers have moved on. Rode, Langbourne and Gilchrist. The first two (already posted on here) off to EDFL Premier, the other to a very good Div 2 side in the NFL.

Plenty of others were the targets of other clubs too but stayed.

Until the league get their act together and put up the transfers, then we might have a better idea of the comings and goings.

What other players were targets out of Wallan?

I would be surprised if there weren’t more players asked if they were interested in changing clubs than players not asked.
The more good players you have, the more players that get asked.

I would hate to think how many clubs approached young Fowler and Gilchrist, B. Both stayed and credit to them. Heaps of time to play elite footy.

They’ve only put up who has come into the comp, they haven’t got the outgoing transfers which would’ve been nice.

Harley Short denied 3 times. Looks like his not going to Wallan unless they go to AFL Vic appeals process. Must have been contracted to Roxy so good on them for holding firm on a contract..

League transfers are up. It’s all over the shop and not a very good set up though.
Interesting reading at a juniors level. Sunbury Lions U15A side have all but packed up and moved to Gisborne Giants. They won the flag this year. Andrew Hall coached them. Will hurt Lions significantly down the track. Watch the juniors space with Kangaroos too when transfers re-open. Their U17 coach is coaching the U19s at Giants.

Lots of those clearances been rejected. Not great from a coach poaching his previous clubs junior players. Really poor form by him.

Not sure what it means for the local kids, but will be interesting to see how the giants manage things with so many outsiders coming in.

I would also hope that the league doesn’t let anyone from Giants near the rep teams, wouldn’t look good if they followed up with a second round of recruiting juniors next year.

I noticed the same thing. Is there a max limit of players allowed from one RDFL club to another in the juniors?

unsure of the circumstances but agree its not a great look from the outside whatever is the reason behind a junior club being tagretted by another.
is it the players who are just kids deciding or the adults involved as in the parents with issues or following the coaches mentioned.

its always been a tricky one this. do players sign with an actual club or do they committ to what they are sold.
in this case perhaps harley short saw something change at roxburg park. but if the contract sticks then that is the current M.O.U amongst AFL Vic. happening in the VCA right now with Essendons former captain being held from transfering to another club.
maybe this is the same reason the above two wallan young players flower and gilrcrhist remain there mentioned options.
tied to a previous signed piece of paper.

if there isnt there should be. happens down here in the edfl to with the big clubs like keilor aberfledie strathmore who do quite ok picking off the better players from there neighbours.

I’m not sure what the Giants are promising these players. The Lions were always the better team in the region for junior development. Now the Giants are getting handfuls of players from the Lions and the Kangaroos.

Definitely contracted, announced on Roxy's social pages at the end of this season.
Interesting to see how this pans out.

Good to see the club holding its ground.

A similar case developing between the WAFL and SANFL where the reigning Sandover Medalist signed a two-year contract at the start of last season now wants to go back home to Norwood after one year. Swan Districts are holding him to the second year despite him re-locating back to Adelaide already. A bank transfer from Norwood with a few zeroes in it will probably clinch the deal though.
