Good to see the club holding its ground.

A similar case developing between the WAFL and SANFL where the reigning Sandover Medalist signed a two-year contract at the start of last season now wants to go back home to Norwood after one year. Swan Districts are holding him to the second year despite him re-locating back to Adelaide already. A bank transfer from Norwood with a few zeroes in it will probably clinch the deal though.
thats obviously more serious or more involved than basic local football here where players jump aorund for a few extra dollars and can drive to new clubs.
is that player nik rohkar. think he played in the GVFL at some point.

Do WAFL and SANFL contracts involve enough to cover employment or does the cliub intend on flying him back to play?
Makes it hard if moving interstate includes 35-45 hours a week in a job outside football firts.

Short has lived in Wallan for the last 3-4 years (3 minutes from ground)Has recently had a kid, and new work yard at Kilmore. Circumstances changed in the last weeks of the season, nothing to do with anything else but spending more time with family. Gave his all for Roxy.

Just think why sign early if you’re living outside the area and maybe undecided. Yes he gave his all for Roxy but they are obviously holding firm on this. Clubs recruit and plan so it does upset the club he originally signed at. Would only release him if you can find a similar type player for the same coin.. Could be more in this maybe??

PS: Not sure posting about his young family day care is relevant..

Be good to see him allowed to leave considering how much he and his family have done for the club and continue to still do so…

It is Rokhar. Not sure what his work situation was in 2024.

Swans are highly unlikely to be interested in paying to ferry him across the country. They'll just ask for a five figure sum to release him otherwise they'll make him stand out until Norwood coughs up.

Clubs at grassroots level are starting to do the same as Swans for these situations and why not, given they have been pricked around by a player lured by a few extra bucks halfway through a contract.

Lots of those clearances been rejected. Not great from a coach poaching his previous clubs junior players. Really poor form by him.
I know of another similar situation currently in the works. Said coach doesn't get the job again at one RDFNL Jnr club, applies elsewhere and is successful and then the group messages, email to parents and player meetings takes places about keeping the players together and all moving together to the coaches new club.

Interesting reading at a juniors level. Sunbury Lions U15A side have all but packed up and moved to Gisborne Giants. They won the flag this year. Andrew Hall coached them. Will hurt Lions significantly down the track. Watch the juniors space with Kangaroos too when transfers re-open. Their U17 coach is coaching the U19s at Giants.
Poor form,

setting the children for a lot of uncertainty in adulthood.
do the same parents request certain schoolteachers and or bosses.

Genuine question. Have you got any knowledge on this new recruit, other than what’s posted? From the post he sounds like a decent player, have you or anyone else seen him play or know any more about him?

No knowledge on him. Only going by what’s written on posts. Now sometimes what’s written isn’t always true. But I’d say he will be decent just like the others Kyneton have recruited from Pt Cook.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the young blokes from the Kangaroos are attracted to the thought of playing unders with their mates for another year in the RDFNL rather than the usual 18.5 like in the EDFL.

Not sure how this matches the clearances.
Surprised by the amount of pearl clutching going on over this. It appears to be a case where a coach, who has been a coach of many teams at his previous club and given great service, has developed a strong relationship with the players and parents of the 15A group this year. Now that the coach has been appointed as Senior coach at a brand new club, a role that will probably see him coaching the club as much as the senior program, some of the juniors and their families from his previous club want to join him in being part of that. The coach must be doing something right if these players and families want to follow him. Good coaches are not thick on the ground these days.

You must be the coach I reckon. Think it’s the opposite and poor form to chase huge number of young kids from your previous club.

Wrong again, keep throwing darts and one might hit the board. Situations like this are why footy forums get bad names, people with no understanding or knowledge of the people they talking about throwing up their own warped imaginings as facts.

And the same Senior Coach has denied that he’s been ringing the parents- alas he has been caught out and has been ringing the parents and messaging the kids.
A poor look for a first time Senior Coach who told his previous Junior Club that he wouldn’t be coaching the Giants Juniors or taking players with him.
At least he’s picked up on the theory that lying is the first language in football 😆
The lure of getting the kids to the Calder Cannons has been the incentive.

What is connection that Gisborne Giants have to Calder Cannons?
How is he promising this given how few kids they pick in squads from RDFL…
