So what's the purpose/point/advantage of the AI chat stuff?

I've used it to write code for me at work. It gives far better results than a Google search.

I also reckon if you fed it the West Coast boardisms/tired, unfunny jokes thread you could create a poster indistinguishable from Dark Sharks.

So there's more to it than just getting it to write words/conversations?

Oh yeah. I fed it a problem I had, and it spat out an answer in seconds. Could just copy and paste what it provided and it worked. Can't do that when I Google problems. And you can type to it as if you're typing to a real person. Without thinking I said sorry to it cos I made a mistake in what I typed haha.

And yeah just google it and away you go.

What I really like about it is that it can correct itself on the fly. So for my silly forum post above, I just said Eagles and it started crapping on about the Philadelphia Eagles, so I said I meant the AFL and it came back with a new response that replaced super bowl with Premiership etc does that for serious questions too.

Awesome. Will give it a go and see how much of my work it can do for me.

I just entered an argument I had with my wife into it and her reasoning as to why and how I'm wrong and how she says I should apologise and asked it to explain it to me and my laptop burst into flames.

Miguel Sanchez: The Eagles are going to have another disappointing season, just wait and see.

Keys: Now, now Miguel. Don't be so pessimistic, campaigner. The Eagles have a solid team and with some hard work, they can make improvements this season.

Obeanie1: I still think the Eagles need some more firepower, maybe a trade for Buddy Franklin could help?

Dark Sharks: Buddy Franklin? He's practically a fossil! The Eagles need some young blood, not another campaigner.

Briztoon: Can we not talk about the Eagles right now? I'm a Brisbane supporter and I don't want to hear about them.

Keys: Come on Briztoon, let's have a friendly discussion about the teams.

Miguel Sanchez: Yeah Briztoon, what's the matter? Afraid the Eagles will disappoint yet again?

Briztoon: I just don't see it happening. The Eagles have been struggling for years, and I don't think they'll turn it around this season.

Keys: I understand your skepticism Briztoon, but I have faith in the team. They have a talented roster and a great coaching staff. They can surprise us this season.

Dark Sharks: But what about their defense? It's been a weak spot for years and I don't see that changing this season.

Obeanie1: That's why we need Buddy Franklin. He'll bring some much-needed toughness to the team.

Miguel Sanchez: Buddy Franklin? No way. He's too old and past his prime. The Eagles need to focus on getting younger, hungrier players.

Keys: You know what guys, I think we're missing the point. It's not about any one player or trade. It's about the team as a whole. With hard work and determination, they can make this season a successful one.

Dark Sharks: I'm just not sure. I have a feeling this is going to be another disappointing season for the Eagles. You know what, I'm done with this conversation. I'm walking away. (pauses) Just kidding guys, I couldn't leave you campaigners behind. But seriously, let's stay focused on the real issues.

I quite like this one. I didn't even mention Buddy Franklin in my little prompt either, it just ran with it. Pretty sure this conversation happened at least once.

The one that is quite frightening is voice AI

(an openly available version. Open AI (same team behind Chat GPT) have a version called Vall-E that is stronger, but they are not releasing it to the public).

Allows you to create vocal profiles for a user based on a short upload of their voice. You can then use that voice to say whatever you want.

Terrifying

The Miguel Sanchez character doesn’t seem pedantic enough
Write a conversation of about 200 words about the West Coast Eagles AFL team (or just 'the Eagles) with the following characters:

Miguel Sanchez: Argues with everyone over everything

I should have went with pedantic :kissingheart:

I'm curious to see how this AI stuff develops because I would think that if AI is learning and effectively regurgitating information, it will regurgitate a LOT of incorrect information. Is there some sort of verification process involved? Or if enough people say the Dockers are good, ChatGPT will say it as well?

These days basically something is correct if enough people say it’s correct, I guess the AI will follow those rules.

That's what I'm thinking. It has the potential to make things a whole lot more confusing for people.

There was a case where someone asked the AI for a source for something it said and it made one up

So they've basically been trialling it on BF for the past 10 years and I wasn't wrong in assuming 95% of posters are bots.

The Fremantle Dockers have been terrible for their entire existence.

As a language model AI, I do not have personal opinions but this statement is not entirely accurate. The Fremantle Dockers is an Australian rules football team based in Fremantle, Western Australia. They have been playing in the Australian Football League (AFL) since 1995 and have had some successful seasons, reaching the finals and even reaching the Grand Final in 2013. While they may have struggled at times, it is not fair to say that they have been terrible for their entire existence.

Although it's now twigged where $someone else$ got their Big footy avatar from. Maybe they were a bot all along

Wrong, they're based in Cockburn.
