Watched the last Black Panther last night.
Am I racist if I wanted Black Panther to commit genocide of the blue freaks? They remind me of Avatar people and I hate that movie and those freaks gross me out and so does the water people

An initial script had the final battle simultaneously in Talokan / on the surface. That said, I have a hard time believing the blue freaks would be defeated in their own home.

As an aside, that movie was way too long. It felt like the middle episodes of a TV series where they're just advancing the plot for the main story and moving pieces around without actually doing much character development.

Took the young fella and some of his friends to see it a few weeks ago, they all had the same comment after...that sucked..😂

Crackpots have stopped posting here too.

That's because they are still under the yoke of Comrade Dan and Mao McGowan with their draconian limits on free speech, freedom of movement and freedom of employment long after COVID has ceased to appear on the main news headlines...

...wait.

Oh yeah agree with you guys. The movie was too long and fin trash. I find most of the marvel movies these days are average and give it a while before I watch em

Wait, am I reading this right? With the scores locked at 35-all, the Chiefs decided not to run in a touchdown in order to milk the clock? Is that correct?

With two minutes left, the Chiefs were 17 yards away.

The Eagles were trying to stop a Kansas City first down, but a key defensive holding penalty on third down killed Philadelphia's chances.

Jerick McKinnon ran the ball to the one-yard line before stopping, allowing the Chiefs to run the clock down over successive plays.

Finally Butker kicked the go-ahead field goal. The Eagles had just seconds to score a touchdown and were forced to throw a desperation last-second pass which fell short, sparking celebrations for the Chiefs.

Yep

And it was absolutely the right thing to do

Scoring the TD would have given Philadelphia time to score a game tying TD of their own if they were good enough

By not scoring the TD Kansas were able to run down the clock before scoring a go ahead Field Goal with only seconds left in the game

Smart play

Maybe the game needs to look at changing the rules? If a team is incentivised to not score like that, then there is something wrong.

I know other sports run down the clock. But not when you're about to kick a goal or whatever, right? Imagine Messi walking in a goal in the final minutes of the WC, stopping on the line and going, nah, let's take some time out instead. I mean, the very essence of sports is to score!

Wasn't there a SB a few years back where a team was leading in the final minutes but allowed the opponents to score a touchdown, because it somehow gave them a better chance of winning? (they didn't). I thought at the time what a strange sport to allow such a distortion of the game. Seems it must be reasonably common.

More on topic it does seem baffling re: final play but of course it makes perfect sense in a game where it's difficult to win possession back quickly from the opponent and where upon completion of a touchdown, the ball is handed straight to your opponent.

Maybe I'm a minority but I find American football tedious and confusing and this is one of those reasons.

It does feel a bit like the equivalent of bowling the final ball underarm to prevent your opponent from hitting a six.

Or perhaps marking it in the goal square with a minute or 2 left and instead of turning around and immediately playing on, walking back and taking your full 30 seconds to put your team 7 points up and take away time for the opposition to possibly score twice.

The touchdown was an inevitability, it was smart play to take the clock away from the opposition - no matter how boring it may have been for fans.

I didn't watch, but a better comparison sounds more like marking in the goalsquare with 60 seconds left, running down 30s, then kicking backwards 20m to a spare man.
