You finished yet Bender_ ?
Nah, I stopped there. Maybe one day. I wanna get through Dune first.Yes a week or 2 back and absolutely loved it. Funnily enough despite knowing what was going to happen with Hal i still found it intense. I watched the film 20 years ago and my memory of the ending is a bit sketchy - I found this one a bit confusing still despite it explaining the monoliths.
In short 4.5/5. Decided against reading the sequels coz I'm worried about it ruining my enjoyment of it. Have you read any of them?

Interesting combination.... Philadelphia 76ers have a proud history.I grew up as a 76’ers and Newcastle United fan.
I’ve basically spent 3+ decades following two teams that, albeit for a brief period for each team, have struggled to avoid relegation, suffered through dodgy ownership and management, but are now owned and backed by billionaires, and now we’re there or there abouts.
I honestly don’t know what I’ll do if either team actually wins it all.
•I’ve only followed the Lions for 9 years now.
Sad about that....Yep. Jan 26th 2020 Kobe died and then not long after the world imploded
I have considered Dune also, but I think it might be a bit too nerdy for me (in terms of fantasy levels). The recent movie is outstanding but I don't think I'd enjoy the book as much - Sci-fi books for me can't have too much of a fantasy element if you know what I mean. I read Solarus a few months back and that was quite good. Philip K Dick has some awesome ones obviously. Hitchhikers Guide is probably my limit.
Son of Philadelphia.Sad about that....
Had a Brilliant NBA career with the LA lakers too
Have you read Hyperion?
Anyone here read Chung Kuo?
The series would be getting on to 30 years old, but brilliant story and reading.
I have not - but a brief check of the plot looks a bit too fantasy heavy for me, you think it isn't or even despite that it's a good read?
Solaris was a good read. It was 20 years ago now, after I'd seen the Clooney/Soderbergh remake. From memory there was a lot of info about the physical properties of Solaris?I have considered Dune also, but I think it might be a bit too nerdy for me (in terms of fantasy levels). Guilty as charged.
It sorta grind my gears now how busy the roads have become again this year. Even during school holidays they were busier than usual. Aren’t people working from home as much. I left work at 6.45 in the morning today and usual the free way is a breeze but now there legit traffic at times at that time
I just assume for us it people going back to work. Before I left later and would still get there on time for work. Now legit have to leave earlier than even before to make it.
I loved driving to work during lockdowns. No one on the roads.
Now, I get caught in the tail end of peak hour traffic driving home, as I finish work at 6:30pm. Before covid, my drive home was quiet.
I blame all the southerners who moved up to QLD during covid.
As for people working from home. My wife now works from home. She actually has more “free” time to go to the shops during the day, go out to lunch, spend half a day going to a distant market or nursery.
More productive at home, and more “free” time.

This makes me depressed.Hate the colder months not only for the cold weather but shorter daysIt'll ease up again early as the mornings get darker and colder.
Signed, the 5:30am commuter.
