How good are people sometimes.

Rang up to book accommodation for one of the towns along the Bibbulmun and the lady on the phone says I can stay at her place for free because it'll just be one night.

I mean, I may be murdered, but at least I'll die showered and with a home cooked meal.
Hopefully he's not on the porch playing the banjo when you roll up!

Wonder if that’ll change as the cost of living pressures make it harder to justify paying for parking?

It’s already prohibitively expensive in the CBD.
Is it busier in Melb? Perth has a particularly high occupancy rate for CBD offices compared to the rest of the country. It seems like a lot of other states who went through fwr harsher lockdowns haven't really returned to the office.
I think it’s busier in general on the roads yeah.

I don’t think it’s necessarily people driving into the CBD though (very hard to park there), it’s more those who’s catch buses, which join the train and tram lines, now driving I suspect.

I reckon it probably started with people not wanting to wear masks on PT and then people just decided to keep driving.

But could also just be population increase

Speaking of short commutes, am considering investing in an electric scooter (current commute to work is 5 minutes).

Anyone else have one ?

How are you not just walking?

I'm UKED...the gf just said..."you know what next week is right"...I have NFI..😶‍🌫️

This is where you say "yep" then make something up, and when she gets confused you say "I can't believe you forgot!".

I can't get behind this, I choose where to live because I primarily like the area - not for proximity to work - can't let your job dictate some aspects of your personal life. In saying that I'm not what you would call a career focused individual either.
Oh it's a nice area too. Good schools, good parks, 5 minutes from the M1 to head to the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast. 15 minutes from the bay. 15 minutes to my wife's work (on the rare occasion she has to go in), 20 minutes from the city. Central to a lot of the good southside cycling routes. Lots of good cafe's and restaurants within in an easy drive (we had lunch at a Thai-Burmese restaurant today). We're 200 metres from a Westfield and bus exchange.

Anyone here who knows Brisbane, we're in Carindale.

I'm definitely not career minded. My work stays at work, the moment I walk out the door, I'm on my time. My wife is the career member of the family.

My theory is that the roads are busy af because a lot of people who used to catch public transport pre-covid are no longer doing so. Got out of the habit of it during lockdowns and don’t want to go back to it.

Not obsessed, just a theory
Pretty sure it's not a theory, but reality.

With the amount of work about to commence on two sites on two of the major routes in to the Brisbane CBD for the olympics, I'd hate to be driving in to the CBD for work.

However my wife's work are closing one of their suburban campuses and plan to open one in a high rise in the city.

Is the 5 minute drive through hyperspace in the Millennium Falcon?

I remember pre-covid I often couldn't get a seat on the train, now it's easy. And cheaper too since they made it all a single fare.

I like the train cos it's the only chance I have to read (for pleasure).
