Another great win by the boys today against the Vics. Unbelievable performance by Dan Chirstian. 6 wickets and 86 runs :thumbsu:

I was one of about 50 people that went to the game at skilled stadium. The wicket was one of the slowest you will ever see. Christians innings was actually much better than it appears on paper. 86 at better than a run a ball was unbelievable in the context of the game.

At present they are running neck and neck with the Test team for shit performances.

Was the first time in about 8 years I haven't been able to make it to the one-day game in Victoria!! Stupid tennis on a Saturday
As BACCS said, the redbacks are always entertaining win or lose! :)

Do you know why they played the game in Geelong of all places?

Just makes the comp look a bit amateur really.

Great win though.

Mate, I have seen it too many times. 55 is just unacceptable but now they will think everything is fine as we have another season of mediocrity with shit loads of rejects from other States.

but how bad would our team look (and probably perform) without the ring-ins?

Smith (will hit between 10-20 most innings)
Harris (ok opener, wont hit many big scores)
Ferg (all class, but forced to bat out of position)
Borgas (decent, more a one day player though)
Manou (+) (handy batsman, for a keeper, but not to be relied upon)
Cranmer (more or less untried - kid)
Richardson (as above)
Bailey (SPUD, with a side of potato)
Puland (Absolutely useless if the ball doesnt swing - serviceable at best if it does)
Haberfield (good bowler)
George (good bowler)

That is a MASSIVE tail. The stock just isnt coming out of district cricket. Have to be competitive somehow.

I agree, 55 is unacceptable, but it would be a very common sight if the ring-ins werent there.

Considering how glowingly the selectors and coach have spoken about Ferguson, it would very intersting to see him make a big 100 here. Hes still probably a few back in the test pecking order. Still the selectors will be looking for fresh form if North is to be booted.

I watched a fair bit of the foxtel stream yesterday and Ferg was very controlled and measured in a knock that for lack of a better word was un Ferg like.

Both Fergie and Christian with centuries now at Lunch. Both are doing exactly what the Australian batsmen failed to do in Adelaide in the final day, just bunker down, put their naturally aggressive games away and survive. Classy effort from the two of them so far, shame they couldn't produce in the first innings.

both failed to make big tons

SA crumble with a lead of just 90

another outright loss to SA

Wow. Michael beer selected for the 3rd test. Best bowling 3/39 and an average of 40 with the ball. Yet ferg doesn't get a run.

Phil hughes failed again.

Johnson getting a run. Has he played since he was dropped?

Khawaja snubbed.

It's official we are trying to lose the series. At least the redbacks keep ferg. Should help minimize the magnitude of our inning defeats
