Good Player. Uses the footy well a majority of the time and has good pace. Not sure where he's from or played his junior footy but if he isn't already contracted, his game against Werribee last weekend wouldn't have hurt his chances.

Rex Liddy was raised at the Hopevale Aboriginal community north west of Cairns and is set to become the first FNQ indigenous player to rise to AFL ranks from an indigenous community. Rugby League player Matt Bowen and aboriginal activist Noel Pearson also hail from Hopevale.

Liddy is a strongly built and naturally athletic running player with an accurate right boot. He joined the GC SUNS training squad last year after impressing AFLQ talent scouts as a junior level footballer.

He started out this season moderately successfully as a half forward flanker but a late season switch to the half back line brought his game-reading abilities to the fore.

Liddy’s steady improvement and impressive hard work on and off the field during 2010 saw him rewarded with a two-year contract mid-season.
