Wow, we are going to be busy with contracts next year:eek: Im happy that Lids got the 5 years. Also with White up in 2013 it would make sense if we could get a trade now as that would take the pressure off re-signing or delisting.

Hmmm

Craig Cameron, Dimma, Blair Hartley and the others will be super busy next year. Interesting to have so many players out of contract at the same time.

Sign up Cotch on a 5 year deal please. NOW.
Believe the club and Cotch are only at odds over the term of his 3rd eldest son's first contract such is the loooooove .

That is a massive number of guys out of contract next year.. Gives the club a really good idea of who can play etc and who they can sign to extended/lucrative contracts at the end of the year.
Cotch, Reiwoldt, Martin, Grimes, Rance the highest priority I would think?

I would be hoping that once all the free agents and draft picks are signed that we are making plenty of announcements through the summer.

If for no other reason, please do it to give us something to bloody read other than people's 10+ attempts at a best 22.

The list isn't that ridiculous actually.

there is a preference for 2 or 3 year deals these days, so you would be expecting roughly 15-20 players to be out of contract every season.

We are slightly over this (22), but I suspect this is due to the need to nudge contracts for the "must have" players outside the 2012 GWS acquisition window, and the tonne of kids we have (making 2 year contracts preferred over 3).

Reckon this spread will return to the 15-20 range now the GWS/GC threat is past, and as our list matures beyond the nappy range.

Was about to post almost exactly the same thoughts.o_O

The other question is: Who out of the 2013 ending contracts are Free Agents?

#1 Chris Newman: 2013.
#23 Daniel Jackson: 2013.
#28 Jake King: 2013
#35 Matthew White: 2013.

Only these?
#23 Daniel Jackson: 2013.
#28 Jake King: 2013
#35 Matthew White: 2013.

I'm pretty sure all three of the above wont be leaving or being poached anytime soon, But if there are any clubs interested in them i wouldnt mind a trade being facilitated to get these guys to another team. Im pretty sure all 3 wont be at the club in 3 years time.

#12 David Astbury: Contracted until the end of 2013

Has now signed until the end of 2014.

umm i dont think houli signed a 4 year deal with the tigers did he? we got him the same time as grigg and i would think both would have signed 3 year deals so houli would be out on contract the end of next year too

I'd imagine with that many contracts to sign at the end of 2013 We would be trying to tie up proven players aka Cotchin Martin Riewoldt etc with heavily front loaded contracts to ensure we use 100% or as close to in the cap this year.
