Also.... we just played poorly, with 12 players below their 2021/2022 averages on the night. Too much left for too few.

Yet to bring myself to watch the replay, but was Baker tagged out of it? Injured?

eyeball test: Flossy was great, and shows here. Jack was important with his snags. Ross had a great game. Nank I thought was disappointing in effectiveness (these stats loved him). Ditto for Balta who I thought was Captain Snooze (again, somehow played above his average).

I would LOVE to hear from Dimma or anyone that "yeah, we reviewed the game and in hindsight we should've set someone to lock down a bit on Neal. We plan to add this to our menu for next year. It was a mistake to let him run around as freely as he did".

PS: Counted Prestia and Sheds as one player.

I watched a Netflix doco on the ref in the nba who fixed games good doco by the way and he was saying the head honcho of the nba at the time David stern was dodgy as hell making sure star players were looked after on games and made sure playoff games went to a game 7 for more tv rights money sounds like the afl
The afl looks after the darlings of the afl in scumpies doggies and geesook
Hawthorn went down because they had an outspoken president in Jeff Kennett we have copped the same across the board it’s corruption to the hilt

Corn-cob actually made a few good points.

1) the ARC was the wrong call as we all know

2) our arrogance was to back our structure in and allow neale to have a field day, let him run at the ball with no body contact. Short was on him and provided nothing unfortunately.

3) punch the ball over the line not a gentle double hand tap which dropped in the goal square.

short on neale

absolute geniuses !

Brisbane are toast against Sydney. No way we had a chance without Prestia
waiting for confirmation that presita has done a bad hammy so I can convince myself that we wouldve got done by melbourne in the semi

If you;ve got Bolton, Dusty, Prestia, Short, Lynch, Baker and Rioli playing below average games then you're pretty ****ed.

Was in the stands head in hands Thursday night on the Siren
TBH felt like a fitting end to a nearly year for us
Love the development the kids had this year
Gibbo cost us but will be better for it
Go tiges

In the stands it really felt like Vlaus was our best player, and Nank dominated in the ruck.

Without Vlaus we would have lost by 7 goals.

This loss hurts more now than it did on the night :( feels every bit as painful as 18 prelim
It was the opposite for me. I had no expectations for us this year, expecting it to be a bit of a development year.

I was totally comfortable with how the season finished, given we "found some pieces of the puzzle" (as Dimma would say) in the second half of the year with young players such as Sonsie, Gibcus, MRJ, Cumberland, etc.

True, but watching the other teams spud it up the next two days feels like we have wasted another year.

Don’t even think Gibbo cost us the game

We were in front with a minute to go with 5 defenders in the goal square that failed to kill the ball for a behind

Gibbo wasn’t even one of those guys

We were never going to win the flag this year. Dusty clearly wasn't fit, and Meatball couldn't make it through one final let alone four.

Wondering why today this loss was still stinging like a bitch.

But even for someone as old as I am. I can never remember us having our season ended by less than a goal where we should have won. Seen other teams go through it and now understand how they must feel.

Would have loved to face Demons this week with Petracca maybe offsetting Prestias absence. But no meatball no real midfield so I can tell myself that we are only spared a spanking this weekend.

That we are speaking to Hopper aswell as Taranto suggests that big money may be coming off the books. If Dusty leaves it will feel strange seeing him run around in another jumper.
