Yeah it was sick

Especially with the context that he had a really rough day in terms of getting his hands on it until that last qtr

He saw his moment and pounced
Yep to finish like that with a hard tag shows how much he’s matured.

My team for Dees:

B: Grimes Balta Broad
HB: D.Rioli Vlastuin Short
C: Ross Taranto McIntosh
HF: Coulthard Baker Graham
F: Young Martin Riewoldt
R: Soldo Prestia Bolton
IC: Banks Hopper Cumberland Ryan
SUB: Pickett
EMG: Miller Cotchin Mansell

In: Short Cumberland Ryan
Out: Mansell Cotchin Miller

We need an extra tall up forward, and probably one less back against the Dees if they don't play Grundy, so I think we should redistribute Young. He's quick on the lead and has a strong body, so shouldn't get outmarked too often.

Miller's had enough chances, so I'd swap him for Ryan who has more upside and is the better ruck of the two.

I don't see a role in the 22 for Cotch at the moment, so I'd make the call to drop him. Hopper and Taranto are far superior as contested ball winning mids, and Cumberland is a much more natural forward and won't miss multiple goals from 10m out.

Bit rough on Mansell losing his spot after one game back, but Coulthard had more impact in a quarter and a half than he did for the game and has a lot more upside.

Pickett really needs to be played on the wing, but I've got Ross well ahead of him now and McIntosh still slightly ahead so he loses his place in the 22.

It makes you realise how good Rioli is when of all the players the hawks chose to tag they they see him as the most dangerous. He should be in brownlow medal contention but he’s not a midfielder

Didn't think I'd be saying Banks needs to keep his spot but here we are. After a shakey first up couple of games he looks to have picked up the pace of the game and has a mountain of confidence. Well done to him and the mc for sticking with him. Looks like he'll just keep getting better.

I really like Mansell even when he doesn't blow up the stats. He just performs, you know you'll always get a halved contest at worst with him. I'd give him another week.

Young up fwd to play a defensive role on May Or Lever.
Agree, we need to make changes to address this, Young being the current iron fist champion gets the gig.
If Jack gets beaten in the air by May like he did Sicily we're fooked. They'll have May and Lever just getting non-stop intercepts. Need to nullify one of them atleast.

Interesting comments above RE: May and Lever, and it's clear that's where the game will be won/lost for us - I don't think Young is the man though, he's killing it at FB so keep him there to towel up whoever they've got.

Vlastuin is probably the one for me to do the job.

Can't play Ryan next week as a KPF/back up ruck. He's just not ready to play against that Dees backline, he will be a complete and utter liability. We're still fighting for finals, playing Ryan now is basically conceding defeat and looking to the future. We need hardened warriors to take into battle.

We don't need to make many changes, we just need to bring the intensity we did in the last quarter. For the first 3 quarters we just weren't hungry at all and thought we could cruise through at 70% and win.

People still don't rate him and want him moved forward. Work that out.

I'm guessing you don't watch any of our games.
He may have got a few yesterday but normally can't buy a free and gets treated harsher than most AFL defenders/players in general.
Thats not even including his recent suspension which he really was made an example of .

Credit where its due for coming back and winning but it was against a 16th placed young side .
But seriously though, how shit are Hawkforn? Can’t see you guys getting out of the bottom 4 for the next decade while i reckon we’ll have a flag with mini in the next 3 years. 16th is prob your best finish for the nx 10 years. Maybe you can get Clarko, Dermie, Dunstall and Croad back in to steady the ship on and off the ground. Played your granny this week. Will get pumped next weekend.

had too much ice cold piss last night

thanks god for hydralites

craving big mac and fillet o fish now
Still in bed here wishing for a quick death. Hurting. Bad.

Yeah, it's a tough call, we'd lose one of our best interceptors in Floss nullifying there's, a nill all draw. Broad/Grimes should be able to handle JVR and Balta will embarrass Flopsy Brown if they stick with that.

We cannot play Reiwoldt Pickett and Miller all in the same fwd line. It's too damn slow and collective pressure rating is zero.

The sooner Cumberland comes in for Pickett as well as one of Bauer, Gibcus or Biggie for Reiwoldt/Miller the better. Even Sampson.

And if Dan Rioli is sore bring in Brown.
2023 fwd line:-

HF:- Martin Gibcus Bolton
FF:- Cumberland Lynch Coulthard

i think we should drop KMac, Graham, Cotchin, Grimes and Jack……oh hang on, how ****ing stupid is that?
Dees are a massive challenge for us next week. Short has to come in, Cumbo maybe. Do we swap up Miller and Ryan?
Great win yesterday (beata the shit out of losing).

Im happy to bow out here as I've over stayed any welcome I had anyway.
Good luck and well done on being so up and about around a 1pt win over a side you've described above .

And Hawkforn is very funny thats how my 4 yo spells it out , congrats again 👍

The reason I suggested Young is because the Dees (like us atm) only play 1.75 key forwards.

Balta will get the job on Ben Brown and Grimes or Broad could take Van Rooyen, which leaves Young spare to be thrown forward and keep Lever occupied.

Yeah Mansell would definitely be stiff to be straight out again, but I really wanna see Coulthard get a full game and I think he deserves it after that start.

Think Mansell would be a good match up on Salem in a defensive forward role

They start a lot of scoring chains off him from the back half

Pity Bauer is injured.I know everyone wants Cumbo in.But even if Young plays up fwd we still need another marking target,Jack is cooked

Very happy with the win. I ‘think’ the only walk up start best-18 Hawks had missing was Jiath… certainly their only quality player. Tigers missing our first ruck Nank, KPF Lynch and Short. 3 pretty huge outs.

So for this reason was always a big danger game and the odds were never reflective of the way the game was likely to play out. Especially with the Hawks kicking so straight.

credit to hawthorn.
I always viewed this as a danger game. Their centre clearance work is elite.
their players worked hard and perhaps the younger legs run out of puff.
on the other hand we never throw in the towel and to lift like that was very pleasing.
