Depends what you mean by mids

Our on ball bregade absolutely are

It’s the rebounds that are hurting us with our wingers who are a part of the midfield group who are dropping the ball

Even our Rucks who are not taking or at least bringing to ground those long kicks down the line that we are being forced to do because our wingers aren’t working hard enough
to be more specific, our ball use by our mids is lacking-dusty did make some amazing kicks- (also why I am hard on TT), and our link up to our forwards - and their movement is not gelling.
We are static in other words, and have been relying on Lynch to take the big marks.

yeh if we didn't trade for taranto and hopper ours would look pretty similar, we'd have elijah Hewett and probably another quality young mid from this years draft

If we didn't trade for Hopper we could have gone in for Bowes last Year and picked up GC's pick 7 instead.

And ultimately we only went for Hopper because we didn't draft for need the previous year and get Hobbs. Imagine how different things would look if we'd drafted Hobbs and Van Rooyen, then had GC's pick 7 last year and our first pick this year?

We could have done all that and still got Taranto but instead we drafted 2 defenders we don't really need because we don't draft for need, but then this impacts what you have to pay for needs in a trade, I don't get it.

Considering how important pace and running ability was to our success and how important it is to modern football in general i find it bemusing how over the last 3 years our club doesn't seem to value it as much as perhaps they should? Both at a recruiting/list management level and team selection.
I remember(?) after the 2021 draft the club stated that we were looking more to players that had great foot skills due to the stand rule and how it had opened up the game. And then the next year we picked up Taranto and Hopper because we were getting smashed in the middle???

argh please dont remind me of that. I was screaming for us to get involved with that Bowes pick. Imagine going into this draft with pick 6,7 & 25. New beginnings indeed. Instead, the smell of death lingers

And what makes you think that the AFL would have ticked that off if it was Richmond and not Geelong getting this deal?

Pick 7 would have been last year, we could have had Jyhe Clarke, Phillipou, Hollands or Ginbey, aswell as Hobbs and our midfield going forward would look pretty good.

Maybe some ok looking youngsters. But speed is more critical these days. Grimes, Broad, Vlastuin not quick. Pickett runs hard for a chase down tackle but otherwise runs half pace with ball and he and McIntosh just don’t use speed. Graham slow. What midfielder do we have who isn’t slow? Bolton. Ross not quick and nor is Dow or Sonsie. Where is the speed on the list coming through? Big issue for me
speed and our role players are our problem, slow mids not winning crucial contests and opposition are off and gone....and our once Bulletproof system is now leaking like a sieve.... role players can't do their job properly now as they are out of form/making dumb decisions/too old and slow/confused so just get the bloody ball and find somebody in space

last three weeks coaches have dished out 90 votes we have gathered four of them. Thanks to Dustin Martin

means three things to me. Our mids aren’t getting it enough or are out of form probably too slow as well.

Our role-plays aren’t doing their jobs to create opportunities for our cream players,

and our guns are badly out of form or are being held.

Almost embarrassing 86 opposition v 4 for Richmond

Not really, if we play the kids against North and North thump us, 90% of posters in here will lose their collective minds LOL

"North youth better than ours" "The sky is falling"

I'd rather we played a tired old team and lose to North instead. We are in for a few years of pain, 1 more week isn't going to make a difference.
It is if you want to fast track games into future players

If we didn't draft Deledio & Tambling, we could have got Buddy & Roughead.

Rioli quick , short doesn’t get caught , banks has wheels , juddy Clarke is quick , Vlas and broad are intercept defenders and they don’t get found for pace it’s the midfield that needs attention

4 changes would be fine

Agree, Mids is where we need plenty of depth and key forwards. We need to be planning for life after Lynch, right now.

Ball use is fine by our Mids especially when we have Bolton, Dusty and short running through as receivers

Once again you are missing the Forrest for the trees

Centre bounces we are fine and score above afl level when we win them

He ain’t the problem.

It’s the lack of pressure when the ball is coming inside 50.

Any defender will look better with pressure up the field. But he does need to tighten up and keep his concentration. Some non efforts yesterday were shocking. Young will be our best lockdown defender next year, should free Balta and Gibcus to be intercept markers.

Hopefully we find some forwards so Baker can go back and sure things up. Short has been awful since returning.
