Autopsy Roast & toast vs Saints, changes for Cotchin’s final home game

You mention a need for speed then pick a forwardline of Jack, Bauer, Ryan, Pickett, Martin, Taranto. That's close to the slowest forward line in history. Want speed go back to 3 smalls and get rid of 3 of those. If Taranto is getting moved out of the midfield for speed, he should be in the VFL, not slowing down the forward line.
I'm thinking speed in the midfield to get it into the forward line then keep it there. But yes, whoever the new coach will be should consider trialling the 2017 style gameplay loading up on quick high pressure smalls up forward.

Missing finals hurts when September rolls around. The smell of that freshly cut grass. The anthem before the games, the buzz. Hate missing out.
already 4 years without an mcg final 😢

What have we learnt a thumping last week and poor effort and minimal changes our senior blokes are untouchable to get dropped.
It will be the same this week and we'll get rolled by North in Cotch's last game.

And take all of his $1M plus salary?
Salary isn't an issue for us. We have lots retiring and draftees coming in and not many players could demand more on their next contract. If anything we could pay the salary to guarantee the first round draft pick for him or anyone else getting traded out

My honest personal assessment about Taranto’s season is that he’s great at getting the ball, tackling, and kicking goals. However, his field-kicking, decision-making, and lack of speed are alarming. I knew that his field-kicking and lack of speed were problem areas even before he was recruited, but I didn’t expect it to be like this.

If Taranto wore any jumper other than a Richmond jumper, then this board would be all over him for his current form. But we’re supporters so we go easy on him. I don’t mind it because supporting our players is our role. But I unfortunately see those negatives most weeks (maybe other than the purple patch he had before the bye).

Hopefully it’s just our coaching that’s the issue. Perhaps with a better coach we can really maximise Taranto’s effectiveness.
It’s not our coaching he is just not very good at executing skills by hand or foot. I too am surprised at his skill level it is pretty bad. He is good at running and bullocking but god you don’t want him in a play chain unless it’s the end.

Been saying it for a while standards dropped at the club bigtime no denying that from recruitment to drafting, to fitness and conditioning, development of kids, staff leaving and not replaced of the same calibre, leadership and captaincy etc.Football department needs a revamp.

Interesting observation from someone who watches training about standard's not the same as before.

"Doing drills, not nailing them and letting it go rather than calling them back and making them do it again until they got it right. Little things escalate into big things.Things like this didn't happen in our successful year's."

Something I've picked up on here mate. Reckon the new coach needs to have a bit of the old Tommy Hafey, Tony Jewell attitude in em. Have the players train to the standard their expected to play. No going through the motions and being comfortable on what they have previously achieved. Tough calls need to be made by the new coach whilst keeping the club culture of the last decade intact.

Mini in his post game presser was livid…furious

Without saying it he seemed pissed off with the lack of effort…and singled out defenders

i say to Mini….Mate…that’s the team you have backed despite them not showing up last week

you reap what you sow

$1m? We wish

He signed a 7 year / $9m contract that was heavily back-ended. Even with it being backended it averages out to $1.3m - so if its "heavily back-ended" its well in excess of $1.5, probably closer to $2m next season than $1m

I dare say the contract looked something like

Year 1-3 - $1m per season = $3m
Year 4+5 - $1.3m per season = $2.6m
Year 6 & 7 = $1.7m per season. = $3.4m

Total 7years / $9m

Thats what a backended contract generally looks like

So you can disagree all your like tiger_tough - you cant argue against math:laughing:
