It'll be interesting to see what comes of all this. A fair few people have seemed pretty keen to point the finger squarely at Lyon when clearly there are deep systemic issues at the club. I'm not absolving Ross of blame, but it's not looking like a well thought out process right now.

Sadly that's the feeling I'm getting here too.

Today, we are all Saint Kilda.
Yeah.

As I said I was even leaning towards ross was not going to be the guy long term-I genuinely felt we’d make finals next year , whether we’d finish high enough /game play change enough to warrant a further extension of ross is another question.

But this generally smacks of clubs board who when faced with decisions to hold firm and back themselves in(let’s face it this is not a bolten/Richardson obvious failure scenario) absolutely blinked in the face outward pressure.

I get the feeling the board felt they just had to be seen to be doing something/anything

That’s never been the sign of a successful football club.

For a start anyway nothing will change until they fix our recruiting and list management.

Seeing out some of the assistant coaches, and now this - at least we know that nobody is sacred and the board is seriously looking at everybody. That Hale is staying suggests there is a criteria being applied in who is staying and going.

I'm comfortable with the actions to date - if anything it feels more honest and pragmatic - that the broom is being applied across the board

If the club wasn't prepared to extend Ross beyond next year - then it's the right decision to turf him now

If this continues with a further clean out at all levels of the club and new assistants, conditioning staff etc etc, I'll be slightly more comfortable.

I still can't help but feel we'd have been better served going into 2020 with Lyon and more coaching depth behind him. Especially since at least on the surface it looks like we have no idea who the next senior coach will be.

Sorry for the intrusion, but I recall Connolly resigned... but rolling with the theme I also think Freo sacked the first coach of their women's team...

"Mutually parted ways" is corporate speak for "you're fired but we'll allow you to save face". No coach voluntarily resigns midway through a season.

Who ever gets the job if Freo don't fix the recruitment and fitness staff the new coach will be wearing the sacked stigma in double quick time.

I would think that the medical staff will be looked at with the same detail as the rest of the club. Who would be a good get though as far as club doctors and trainers?
