Oscar just looks done so far this year.

His howlers are miles below AFL standard. And too frequent.

He also finds it impossible to take a mark. He used to be a reasonable mark. Maybe he's just burnt out and needs a reset.
Not sure he is injured or something
the just bang it on the foot kick it 50m to someone in the other jumper getting a bit old.
Maybe play Fort. Although we know it not going to happen.
Only a few players in our team will ever get dropped.

Called it last week too. Group is so predictably mentally frail.

3 straight years of brutal, brutal losses when we've shot out to an early lead.

When the game's on our terms, I still think we are the best in it (or close to it). That has been enough to take us into the second week of finals minimum 5 years straight.

But when its not on our terms, we crumble so so easily.

At the game you could see why a 3 tall set up is preferred - plenty of ball in Q2 but no targets in F50 with 1 tall. Big O’s decision making was appalling. Rayner and Bailey a distance off being real midfielders.
We really need a third tall who bring the ball to ground.
Hipwood and Joe go for specie or get outworked.
Rayner the same.

I get someone small instead as Dizzy looks injured. Or do we just go Fort or Henry
Rayner either needs to learn to be clean with getting the ball or not sure where he players.
He fumbles so so many times. Maybe Lachie or Hugh can spend a lot of time with him about being clean

I think Bailey more of a chance to play mid full-time then Rayner.

Have we ever played as poorly as we have for extended stages in the last 2 weeks Tom?

I guess PA last year and the Geelong final where we were cooked.

When we dominate and then begin to slow the ball down and possess it towards the end of a quarter, its almost like the players subconsciously see it as a message that they've done enough for the quarter, now just shut it down. Then we conceded 2 quick goals.

Ah Chee was the only one O thought played well and suorise more people aren't giving him votes. A few others get pass marks but thought he was easily our best

Would like to see Linc get some mid time and Bailey play HFF.

The issue is linc is currently our best marking forward, pressure forward, kick for goal, defensive forward and gets up and back.

It's Groundhog Day.

It happens every time without fail..

Against the dees in the last 10 mins at the MCG last year, against the Dees twice in 2022, Sydney in R1 2021, Tigers in the second half at the MCG in 2022 all come to mind.

In fairness if you picked another team's worst games in the last few years it looks bad. What's worse is that in a bunch of those games we played wonderful football for long stretches only to drop our bundle totally and lose from almost unloseable positions.

Honestly no idea how we do not get beaten more in the last few years
All you need is
1) Strong powerful mid who can break lines. Fyffe, Danger, Degoey, Bont etc etc. Which we do not have
2) Speedy mid as our mid is slow
3) Add someone with speed on wing or HF line
4) Intercept defender to pick off all the high balls Hipwood, Joe cannot mark.

and we done.

1) An issue, we keep hoping its Rayner
2) Zac Bailey and Dev are both very quick, but neither seem capable of being high production regular mids.
3) Zac Bailey, Prior, Sharp, Dev? All bloody quick. Ah Chee, Linc etc, aren't slow either
4) Doedee

We aren't going to be able to recruit anyone else for this year, or cover all of those in this off season. The guys are here already, just have to find a way to get them playing at a higher level.

There was only 1 player who didn’t take a mark on the field for the entire night.
Same player was also the tallest on the field.
I dunno.. seems alarming.
Same bloke who hasn’t taken a mark since 23 sept - including no marks this year or the grand final. Not good enough for someone his size.

As a team, we are not fit, especially our midfielders and half forwards and backs. We struggle to run with most teams. We were gassed before red time of the first quarter last week and this week.

We have a few burst players; Rayner, Bailey, Cameron, who can't impact contest after contest.

There is also very little movement off the ball. With the exception of Neale, we are very static at stoppages.

When the ball is in dispute, we hold our ground, while many of the opposition are on the move and able to react faster to a loose ball.

Our forwards rarely create space for each other, for one to lead in to, for an uncontested mark.

We have a lot of less skilled players; Robertson, Answerth, Gardiner, McInerney, who actively look to give the ball off to our better ball users, even if those players are under immediate pressure from the opposition.

We look like a team lacking confidence, with many players second guessing themselves and what they should be doing.

We also look like a team that plays a system that relies on just a few players to be our game winners, and if they are out of the game, our second tier group of players are incapable of stepping up, and our role players are scared to.
That last part is spot on.
I mean it’s all correct.
But especially that last paragraph.

It's also like the switch goes off.

We go from dominating to comotose.

And when the opposition gets a go on a comedy of errors follow.

No answers really
