If we consistently play like a pile up of cyclists and every oppo jumps on for the dacking then we could be 0-5 before facing West Coast. That includes losing to the Saints can you believe it? The Saints are a bit like the Gold Coast of the Vic teams for us. Rubbish against everyone else but manage to beat us.

But... We'll beat Carlton on Thursdee night. You'll see. Then we will be 1-1. And so will they. But our 1-1 will be the stuff that gets us excitedly wondering what Yze has secretly snuck into the pot at Punt Rd whilst their 1-1 will be the stuff that gets them raging at whoever their coach is and even baiting the postman for a scrap on the Friday morning delivery run.

Tigers by 21. Set it in stone lads.

Balta to CHB.
Nank and Naismith splitting ruck duties

This is how I'd go for Round 1.

OUT: Grimes, McIntosh, Dow, Ryan, Banks, Koschitzke
IN: Lynch, Clarke, Martin, Ross, Cumberland, Nankervis

B: Tylar Young, Noah Balta, Nathan Broad
HB: Nick Vlastuin, Josh Gibcus, Jayden Short
C: Marlion Pickett, Jacob Hopper, Judson Clarke
HF: Dustin Martin, Noah Cumberland, Seth Campbell
F: Daniel Rioli, Tom Lynch, Maurice Rioli
R: Toby Nankervis, Shai Bolton, Tim Taranto
Int: Sam Naismith, Liam Baker, Jack Ross, Dion Prestia

Emg: Kane McAuliffe, Tom Brown, Thomson Dow, Sam Banks

How much better does that look on paper than our round 0 side?

- I'd almost be tempted to drop Prestia too, and bring in McAuliffe for a game.

- Baker and Balta back to defence where they belong.

- Play one tall forward (Lynch) and a ruck can rest down there at times.

- Dusty and Bolton to play mostly midfield but rest forward too.

- Put the Rioli boys together, just give it a GO.

- Clarke to come in and play on a wing, no more McIntosh. Clarke should be ahead of Banks too.

- Ross to play in the guts.

- Happy to admit I was wrong about playing Seth Campbell, he was lively, need to persist.

Agree with most of your comments. If we play Bolton mid then we need an attacking small forward like Green or Cumberland in. Campbell seems to be able to the defensive small forward and still be dangerous and Baker can do it as well. We need another key defender so for me I would pick Miller over Naismith.

The big one versus Carlton.

Umps (effin bastards are bringing Dusty and that dirty sniper Lynch in,you know what to do fellas, operation Swallowed Whistle,if Lynch gets his head pulled off, pretend you did not see it and call "play on" loudly and decisively to make the previous event a non issue, also if Curnow gets breathed on,blow a loud whistle and try to look for a 50 metre infringement, scan any Tiger defender like a Hubble telescope,Also remember Tiger Day is always no Holding The Ball day to them, right,TY and go the Blues, dismissed)

I think Mansells back this week too. I want Brown in over Grimes but thats never gonna happen. Boltons the best player on our list, its insanity not having him in the midfield and getting his 20 touches. Dow moved to sub. I'm not expecting much from the guys returning from injury. Just want a much better output from the mids this week.

Vlastuin Young Broad
D.Rioli Gibcus Short
KMac Hopper Pickett
Martin Kosi Baker
Campbell Lynch Balta
Nank Ross Bolton
Taranto Prestia Grimes Mansell
Sub: Dow

IN: Martin, Nank Lynch, Mansell
OUT: Banks Naismith, Ryan, MRJ

While I get the concept in returning players to where they played the best previously, I'd like to see some time given to how Yze wants the team to structure up and play before they go making drastic changes like this. The players have spent all summer learning new roles and game style. Throwing it out after 1 regular season game seems way too reactionary.

Remember both the Pies and Giants were slow to adjust to the new game plans that McCrae and Kingsley wanted them to play before it finally clicked in the second half of their first seasons.

I'm over Grimes getting a free ride in this team. He dished up a woeful season last year and wasn't any better against Gold Coast.

He needs to learn the concept of consequences and get himself acquainted with the VFL squad.
Couldn’t agree more.
Every time he gets it you know he’s going to do something dumb.

Richmond the love of my life Dimma.

A couple a months later signs with the Suns lol.

Soul less World we live in now.

To borrow a lyric from the prog band Yes.

"The truth of sport runs rings around you"

The fans really get pissed on the back.

Going to be a lot of melts after selection I reckon, no way Grimes gets dropped, yeah he had a shocker in the last quarter but before that he was pretty good, plenty did worse than him

Finding it hard to accept we are rebuilding, after getting the holy grail 3 times in recent years you sort of expect to just win.

Reality check maybe in the first half last week, how far down do we need to go for a 1st round pick. Then the second half we come back with 7 goals straight with only a couple of players doing the work.I watched the VFL game to see who we have coming up,Tresize could do better than Grimes Judson Clarke needs a run so we have options.Loved watching Seth Campbell, would love to see both Riolis in the centre. So over the Dimma thing, glad he is in Qld see how they go up against a team fighting for top4.Loved the moves coach made maybe could have been a bit quicker,a few players getting a free ride and it needs to stop.Dusty in will help as will Nank bonus if big sexy plays we need him back.

Just watched Yze's post-match presser... Man, he is such a likable guy.

I'm not trying to say anything bad toward Dimma, I admit I'm salty at him for some of his actions in the last couple of years and it was weird seeing him in the other box, but I did always like him especially early on, he was clearly liked by the players.

But Yze seems to exude all that likability without some of the cockiness/bullshit that Dimma always spouted, I don't see Yze being the type to be rude to media and talk back to them, or be sarcastic or speak only in euphemisms.

Obviously I'd wanna see better footy than that first half but it's also partly the cattle (we don't have a great list at the moment), but we need to give Yze time, he'll be very good for us.

No it wasn’t just the last qtr. Was shit all game. Had a terrible season last year. No pre season
Should not be playing and shouldn’t have been waltzed back in for the suns game.

He's given us great service over the years and i thank him for it but he is totally cooked both physically and mentally, the game has gone past him and he's not up to it anymore. Bring in Brown and blood him for his job now not later on.

Lynch comes in for Ryan
Dusty comes in for Dow
Nank comes in for Naismith
Ross comes into the 22 probably at the expense of Banks

Spewing that Dow & Banks are effectively dropped as I think we need to start trying to play our younger players more but Dow's game was terrible for a guy who was playing mid. Banks will come back no doubt, so id keep him in the side but as the sub.
Kozi gets another go because I'd like to see how he goes with Lynch & Balta.
Still think our mids are a big issue but will take time to move some of the veterans on.

It's an interesting dilemma for Yze, on one hand he'd want to get as much senior development into the kids as possible, but at the same time he needs to keep some sort of selection integrity and not just picking kids because they're kids.

Yep unfortunately just gone one season to long.
Brown and Tresize look like they both could slot straight in.

The ball was coming down at a stupid rate in the first half... Any teams defence would've crumbled with the lack of pressure up the ground. If we had a Rance, he may have stopped 5 of those goals
