Autopsy Round 10, 2024: Hawks get pipped by Power

Hate to say it but Bruest looked a step off it, only had a quarter but looked noticeably slower .

One quarter, ground was waterlogged, wasn't going up forward and we weren't looking to score. Come on man.

Heartbreaker . We were the better team without a heap of key personal and just lost away to a top team and flag fancy .
These guys belted the Cats for a half and we totally outplayed them for 3/4s

We looked spent in that last 1/4 . This poor coaching crap that will come up is just that , crap.
It's an inexperienced team of kids .

On that we should be damn excited for what's ahead .
Gutsy effort , no 4 points but if you cannot feel positive after that ........

Of all the plugs to win a game we deserved with an arsey kick Darcy Hyphen Hyphen.
Such immense effort rewarded with no points. It will show how much character we have as a club to see what way we respond.

If you'd told me prior to the game that we'd be within a kick of Port whilst we were without Sicily and Scrimshaw I'd have taken that.

But to lose in such a weak fashion really hurts.

We just lost to Port - away - a team who hammered the cats at geelong

(if we are being honest none of us thought we'd win this game)


McKenzie, Chol, Newcombe, Day, Hardwick, Amon, Ambrosio and Phillips can take a bow

Meek continues to be awesome


Everyone was pretty good - feels empty because we were the better team


That one hurt but that's OK - they'll learn (team and coach)

yeah but those campaigner umps were too afraid to pay a free against port players in those final 2 minutes for all the illegal disposals. essentially gifted them the win

****kkkkk! Wasn’t expecting a win going in but to lose like that is devastating. Umpiring and our lack of intent in the last quarter were both putrid.

On the plus side, Phillips great on debut, Dear did some great things, Dimma excellent, Frost strong again, Day back to his best and Meek another strong game. Probably Chol’s best game for us. Moore led from the front again.

Hopefully Weddle will learn from today. Thought he was average and that last piece of play was shocking.

Coaches lost us that one with poor tactics.

That result was very disappointing but think the loss will teach them a lot more than just hanging on.

Should have learnt this after Richmond last year.

I feel sorry for Hawthorn, they were the better team on the day and it's not often you say that for a team who lost. Hawthorn led all game, except for the final 3 seconds of the game when Port Adelaide took the lead back.

That is the hardest loss for the season to take. We played so well for 75% off that game. We went into our shell in the last and made fundamental mistakes we will learn. A bitter pill to swallow we are growing as a side and what a performance missing some off our genuine stars.

Idiots on here thinking we decided to defend (as opposed to attack) the last quarter, for no apparent reason...

Attacking got us well in front. You don't think Sam would stick with that plan if he thought it an option???

Clearly, he got info from the guys on the ground (players) saying: "Boss, we're f***ed & can't do this any more" so he decided to protect what they'd earned.

If they'd umpired the last 10 mins the way they'd umpired the first 110 minutes, we'd have won.

3-9 in the final term for frees, most were there but plenty missed our way for the same stuff which is annoying.
Definitely tried to even it up a bit and over corrected. Frost copping front on contact and being called play on was a glaring miss at a crucial stage.
