Interestingly I'm not sure Carlton brought George in for his defensive work. Hardness, effort, work rate and professionalism, absolutely, but not so much what he offers defensively. Or if they did, Voss has viewed George differently and gone rogue.

Have watched all his games this year and can probably count on one hand the amount of stoppages or centre bounces where he's actually manned an opponent. If anything his role has been something of a sweeper. Gets loose out the back in space then distributes from there. That's exactly how he should be used and it's brilliant coaching from Voss to recognise his strengths.

sooo ... unaccountable and bludging

Clearances are our bogie and we've just lost a mid we can ill afford to lose.

I'm all for the calls to bring Campbell back in but I'm more interested to where and how we shuffle the rest of the team to replace Rowbottom in the middle. Does Heeney spend most of his time there?
I'm thinking florent moves to mids from half back

off topic but xan someone bring up our cbas from last week

Parker - 18
Mills - 14
Warner - 12
Rowbottom - 11
Papley - 9
Kennedy - 2
Gulden - 2
Heeney - 1

Ladhams - 14
Hickey - 9

And the results, our centre clearances:

Rowbottom - 3
Mills - 3
Parker - 3
Warner - 2
Kennedy - 2
Papley - 1

I think it's safe to assume that what we sell to the public is different to how we handle the players. I doubt Horse tapped Campbell on the shoulder last week and said "Reckon you need a rest mate" only to turn around this week and go "Haha! Enjoy the VFL sucker!"

They would've known and Campbell would've known why he was removed from the 22 last week and I doubt the reasons for that have changed much this week.
So he was dropped.

These decisions are way too sensible for this board .

Its only a page and 90 mins after announcement ffs !
There's not even any controversial emergencies for us to shit ourselves over FFS

Any idea how to stop them from dominating in the middle?

Yes. By dominating out of the middle ourselves.

I'm fairly certain that if we spend too much energy trying to stop their mids, it will prove unsuccessful, as they just have too many quality mids who can do damage to make any kind of negating role effective. We need to get our hands on it ourselves. Force their mids to have to defend in a game where they will be preparing to attack.

If Parker butchers the ball, if Warner just bombs it inside 50, if JPK grubbers it along the ground, I don't care. It will do, because it will mean that at least we are winning it out of the centre and keeping it out of their mids' hands. If our mids are winning it out of the centre, it means that their mids are not. They won't be used to it.

I wouldn't call it brilliant coaching. Just not blinkered coaching of our Horsey.

Yeah go one on one not allow a sweeper, be on your toes and not flat footed and be ready to pounce to get first hands on it and if the ball hits the deck roll your sleeves up and fight like **** to not allow them clean exit. It’s simple compete harder for longer.
