thing is, Sydney haven't beaten anyone of note yet.

Of the current Top 8, Swans are 1 and 1: beating Geelong and losing to Brisbane..

This is really the second chance the club has had this season to show real finals aptitude. Failed pretty spectacularly vs Brisbane where the club really wasn't in the contest at all.

we will murder them

We have 6 wins so far:

  • 4 have come against the bottom 4
  • 1 came against a Hawthorn side who fell away badly in the final term
  • 1 signature win against Geelong

Carlton are in the top 4 and just beat GWS side who were trying to send Leon Cameron out on a winning note by 5 goals.

Lets pump the brakes - this will be a very tough slog.

We. Will. Crush. Them.

Got a really good feeling about this game and have had for some while. They have a 5 day turnaround vs our 6 and we didn’t get banged up either. I think our zip, effort and intensity will be there. Papley getting fitter and on the inprove, Ruck Jesus with Ladhams combo + Buddy lowering the eyes, it’s all heading in the right direction.

Its sunday, pump the breaks is for later on in the week

Well played caesar88. That preview is top-shelf stuff.

I have but one point of order - you note that Callum has become a “top 10 midfielder”.

That is doing a disservice to Mills.

He is absolutely top 5. And may finish the season with a medal to prove it.

PS: good spot on Cottrell - the inaugural winner of the “utter spud has career best game vs Swans” prize that later became known as the Alex Sexton award.

Carlton also has only defeated one top 8 side, Richmond. It's lost to Freo and ... Gold Coast.
So an exact replica of our record. But we have better percentage which is usually a tell.

Fun fact: pattern in the last five games is WLWLW.

I think Hickey will help square the ledger in the midfield.

Plus if we bring our best sledging game that's gotta be worth 2-3 goals.

Thanks for excellent preview Caesar. Isn't it Rowbo who owes Mills a beer or am I missing something?

**** me you lot can be a bunch of miserable campaigners sometimes. We haven't played our best so far but the premiership isn't won in May. We have been concerned in the past about performing strongly at the start of the season and then fading out. Maybe, just maybe, we might be working our way into the season so that we are at our peak for September.

Assuming Rowbottom gets a week it will be really interesting to see who they go for. I'd like to see what Stevens can do. Surely he's got to one day have a break out game because I haven't seen it from him yet. Put him on Walsh and see if he can go with him.

I thought the Hick / Lads combo was excellent v Bombers the other night, especially considering they were up against Draper (one of the emerging rucks in the comp) and Bryan. Draper ended with 6 ranking points as a sign of how much we was neutered.

Surely we exploit this advantage against the Blues. Their ruck is a relatively green forward / ruck backed up by Cripps who is an awesome midfielder.

Having said that, Blues midfield is looking impressive. In particular, I like how hard they work and run. Their defence was also very good against GWS, able to repell multiple inside 50s.

This is going to be a tough test. Tipping massive games from our NSW stars, Mills and Heeney. They will need to rise for us to win.

Don't see why Rowbottom should get a week. When he went to bump Merritt was upright, but then crapped himself, fumbled the footy and dropped his head.

Well he got a week...and I can't see the swans going to appeal it.
