Can't speak for anyone else but this is me when I read other peoples thoughts on George.

Just not worth it.
Never really understood why we traded George out. Obviously can play, in the age bracket to step up to lead our youngsters and wanted to stay. Could we not have kept George and let go 2-3 fringe players and replaced them with rookies or cat Vs if it was a salary cap issue? Or is that just too simplistic?

Could have been a number of factors including looking at the future and having to make a tough call on the list to afford it. One eye on adding another player after Buddy’s money is off the books so a war chest. Hewett negotiating that he has options so going to need more incentive to stay. His medical history with his back. Who knows.

He has flourished at Carlton so on a personal level he has made a good decision for him and his young family.

Seeing him do well when it’s an area that seems lacking at the Swans makes it tough in hindsight. For whatever reason though he just didn’t flourish in the same way at the Swans.

Good luck to him just hope he has a stinker on Friday

So what grounds will Swans challenge Rowy ban?

Take your pick. Mills' push, no time to change his action, Merrett's fumble, Merrett playing on.

I could be wrong but I feel like we almost never challenge bans, so obviously we must be confident there's a case to be made on this one.

I was wondering did Mills slight push mean he didn't have a chance to put his hands out, rather than bump in with forearms

I expect George Hewett to play as well as Nic Newman, Jed Lamb and Andrejs Everitt have in the past.

Tmac to take curnow
Rampe to get silvagni
Try free paddy up to be extra cover. They don't have a second big marking forward this week so we have arguably more marking power down there than they do. Need to exploit that.

Campbell to take rowbottom's place in the middle
I think PMac will get one of, Silvagni or Curnow. Rampe to get Durden. Lloyd to Owies maybe

He didn't flourish because he was never played in the same role. He was only ever seen as a tagger by Horse. Which was very shortsighted. His true value, the way he was better used, was as a true inside mid. When he played that role his disposals always peaked. I think Horse had tunnel vision on Hewett

jeez I'd like to see COR get an run of games. Bring him in move Ollie up to cover Rowy.

I feel really bad for COR. He does literally everything asked of him. Performs his role dutifully (if not dominantly) when he's called up to seniors, goes back to the reserves and just looks a class above all the time.

Maybe the coaches just don't see it in him, which would be totally fair enough (even if I disagree), but why'd we sign him for 3 years then if we obviously don't see enough in him to give him the frequent chances that players like Bell gets?

He's an Irishman living on the other side of the world from his family doing the best he can for the club, and we're just kinda inadvertently stringing him along as a reserves footballer whose not actually getting a chance to better himself or his career prospects in our country.

Looks like the Hun reads Big Footy:
SYDNEY

FB: D. Rampe, T. McCartin, J. Lloyd

HB: N. Blakey, P. McCartin, J. McInerney

C: S. Wicks, L. Parker, O. Florent

HF: E. Gulden, L. McDonald, I. Heeney

FF: J. Bell, L. Franklin, T. Papley

FOLL: T. Hickey, C. Mills, J. Kennedy

I/C: C. Warner, W. Hayward, P. Ladhams, C. O’Riordan

IN: C. O’Riordan

OUT: J. Rowbottom (suspended)

The Swans looked like they found their mojo last week with the balance of their side after a few weeks of changes. Suspect John Longmire will look to settle this group for a few weeks. James Rowbottom the only forced change unless he can overturn his one-game suspension for a bump on Zach Merrett.

If we bring our pressure game, and we kick straight, we will win this... and by 3-4 goals! If either of them is off, then I still think we win, but in a nail biter.

I think they're a good team, but I also think they are a year or so behind us. I have no doubt if they keep up there current projectory they are finals bound, but they have soldiers down all over the field at the moment, and just lost Zac Williams (poor buggar, the press are just dicks!).

They've played Tigers (W), Bulldogs (W), Hawks (W), Suns (L), Power (W), Roos (W), Dockers (L), Crows (W) and Giants (W) for a 7-2 (114.3%) tally.

We've played Giants (W), Cats (W), Bulldogs (L), Roos (W), Eagles (W), Hawks (W), Lions (L), Suns (L) and Bombers (W) for a 6-3 (125.7%) tally.

I think the percentage is probably the true indicator, and that the Bombers might have given us the opportunity to play ourselves back into some form. At the moment I think we are the better team, and am looking forward to Friday night to see how we go.

GO BLOODS!!! :largeredcircle::mwcirlce::largeredcircle::mwcirlce:

Assuming Rowy is out:

Out: Rowy, Bell
In: Campbell, COR

First one is self explanatory, Campbell back in after a rest. COR apparently did well in the practice match (3 good reserves games in a row), so I'd bring him in, then Campbell, Lloyd, others don't have to spend as much time in defence and it flows on to others being able to spend more time in the guts. I thought Bell was decent at times, but we've seen a couple of other ok games from him followed by weeks of not much, so I don't want to risk that.

I didn't think Wicks really earned his spot back, but he definitely kept it.

Can see Logan being in trouble, given our history of dropping him, but really hope he's given more time.

no chance mcdonald is dropped ... should be playing seniors every week unless hurt

Interesting that all our losses have come off 6 day breaks. In fact, so far we've had more short breaks than any other top 8 team.

Some teams won regardless of the short break (sometimes they won over piss-weak opposition). Either way, it could offer some insight into why we're sometimes slow to get going in Q1. Interestingly, the Gold Coast game was off the back of two 6 day breaks in a row.

I raise this as we're playing Carlton off a 6 day break. Carlton have only played one game off a short break this year and they lost that. So maybe it's good news that they're coming off a 5 day break.

Number of short breaks (% losses from those games)
------------------------------------------------------------
Sydney 6 (50%)

Geelong 4 (50%)

Brisbane 3 (33%)

Freo 3 (0%)

Melbourne 3 (0%)

St Kilda 3 (0%)

Richmond 2 (0%)

Carlton 1 (100%)
