So unless they can play 100% of the game, play them at Box Hill. That would be quite an odd way to develop players.

I think I'll back the club in on playing Butler and MacDonald against the pies at the G, over North
Yes, the kids coming in these days are more than capable of running out a game of football!

What if we have 2 injuries during a game and the only ones to come on are Butler and McDonald but they have already played there “70% game time”, do we just play 2 down?

No, they'd played minutes as required, then they'd be managed the following week.

Was that when Darcy Moore dived on the ball and got kneed in the back in the goalsquare and you were awarded the free or the one when Moore's shoulder touched Lewis's shoulder and a free was awarded to Lewis directly in front at the start of the last or perhaps the headlock applied to Ginnivan by Jiath which was in his favourite pocket and a certain goal if the high tackle was awarded as it should have been. You mean those pivotal moments? Try to be reasonably objective.
Your responding to a Richmond supporter you goose..........and yeah nick off back to your own board too

Was looking forward to seeing Ginnavan live for the first time, have to say very unimpressive. He flops every time he goes near it. I'm surprised Craig McRae allows that, playing for free kicks..... every single time. Very selfish and one dimensional player

Tbh it goes to show where the rules are at. Every club has been a beneficiary of it at some point but the rules allow and reward players to do it and it’ll always be a stain on our game until they just call it play on. Until then - it’s an easy score avenue for small fwds. 10 of ginnivans 22 this season have come direct from frees

I haven't watched the replay to see if there is any audio.of the umpire explaining his decision but at the ground we thought it was for a push in the back to Butler not the sliding rule.
was at the game and umpire definitely did the "put one knee up and grab at shin" action

Is that not what i said first up?
Yes, which would be silly. Players need continuity.

Playing Ward or Butler for 68% of game time at AFL level on a continual basis for a slab of games would be far more beneficial for their development than playing 90% of and AFL game every second or third week, being in and out of the side.

Results based thinking isn’t really worthwhile this season. If we’d pinched a goal (and the win) late in the 4th - the whole performance remains as is. And we aren’t in the business of worrying about ladder position this year anyway.

The Bad

We’re still need to find 2 or 3 mids and to figure out our wingman for the future.

Feels like most weeks we are on the back foot due to centre clearances - games are never really on our terms

Some silly footy at times, weird handballs, odd decisions by foot and not shepparding all fundamentals that were lacking

The Good

Mitch ducking Lewis - beast, kept us in it a lot of the day. What a star, our Hawkins

Both Day and Bramble had their best games for the season

Hardwick back to his best defensively too - can see him being an unsung 200ish game player who wins a flag

The I’m Confused

Chadwick Wingard - every single game I go through the full gamut of emotions and views on him. Today for example from - ‘gtfo to Box Hill’ playing for free kicks + bad body language to ‘what a classy player who isn’t afraid to put his body on the line’ with that mark where Howe smashed him. So polarising

Agreed, how ever if a player is picked they should be able to ( if required ) play 100% of game time!

Fully agree, and Butler seems the pick of the draftees so far. Has the speed and skills as well as the appetite for the contest. Great to see him getting a run and building into an AFL season.

Just drove 300 km home and watched the last minute again on replay and saw the Mihocek and Breust tackles. Absolutely identical. Both took 2 steps, both driven legally into the ground. Mihocek play on, Breust HTB.
GAGF Umpire No 17, you incompetent cheat. One little moment epitomised another sad but typical example of where this game is that. Shove your respect.

Mihocek took possession and dived to the ground with no intent other than creating a stoppage.

****.off the prior opp rule and if you have the ball and don't kick or handball to get rid of it it's a free.

I think the no.1 thing that will come out of the game review having been at the ground and now watched the replay is the number of dump kicks out of the D50. Holy crap.
Our kickouts are the worst in the league, every other team in the afl have a plan and work their way out of defensive 50 with relative ease, we chip kick to a pocket, then bottle it up and kick down the line to a contest where we get smashed then it’s straight back in our d50 for repeat inside 50’s. No wonder we’re getting walloped in the inside 50 differentials

Same old story, 2 quarter effort.

Well done to CJ for his first career goal.
Highlight of the day for me, the CJ goal! He's had opportunities before, but he is very unselfish, and usually looks for the pass to a teammate despite me thinking... goals CJ. Closely followed by the continued growth of Lewis and Jai. Also loved how Lewis crashed into Daicos ribs in the last minute, 100kgs and crunch, clearly hurt him. Wouldn't surprise if he's "rested" next week, with broken ribs. Hartigan down back and Lewis up forward gives us gorillas back and forward. A bit more grunt and unsociable footy wouldn't hurt

His stats were ok but thought Shiels showed why he is at the end a few times today. Now he has hit 250 I am hoping we give Saunders and others a go. Maginess will come back in but we need to see if Saunders Downie Morris can cut it.

Hahahha fk this hits.
There was an instance in the first quarter where he let someone (maybe bruest I think can’t remember) get absolutely beaten 1v3 at the top of the arc when he could’ve gone in and impact and literally didn’t move an inch hoping for a magical win at the contest. Even as they ran of with possession was still flat footed.

Then the whole man possessed mode he seems to switch seemingly out of nowhere came on and he was in everything, decking people following up, then that mark contest like you spoke about and he gets up laser focused on kicking a goal like he didn’t even cop a hit. The most hot/cold player in the comp lol

duck a lot of ranting from Collingwood supporters about that rat Ginnivan. They’ve hated Selwood doing it for years but change their tune soon enough when one of their own start with it.
In Sam’s presser, it was mentioned that McRae wants the AFL to look at the frees Ginnivan didn’t get. Let’s start with his first 2 frees and work from there, shall we?

And generally to short people
