And if the umpire had paid the holding free to Lewis at the top of the square just before then we wouldn’t have to worry about that free. Lewis was held that many time by Moore it was beyond a joke.
Yeah, Moore had hold of his arm or wrists numerous times without penalty.

Gunston should of been subbed out, played on one leg for 3 quarters

Nick Daicos has played every game and played 84% game time today, and don’t say it’s because he plays mainly in the backline, Butler and MacDonald mainly play forward and we aren’t exactly racking the inside 50s
You understand the word expected or not?

First half cost us, along with the putrid umpires.
Should have iced the game in the last when we wasted a few really gettable goals.
Lewis, Duke,Nash, Hartigan, Hardwick, we’re standouts. The rest were solid, except Impey and Gunston who was injured and probably should have been subbed out to give us more run. Cost us a few times by not being able to push off that ankle, and was beaten to the ball.

Newcombe- 24 disposals, 13 contested, 12 tackles, 8 clearances, 5 score involvements. That is elite.

Maybe it’s an unfair call by me and I just don’t understand the rule, but I felt Moore had every right to go for that ball and he got there well before Butler did.
He has every right to go for the ball, but he shouldn't be sliding in to a contest when he should be well aware that he's most likely going to take the legs out of others.
That's exactly why the rule was brought in.

On a side note Ross Lyon would have to be the worst special comments going.
The way he was talking about how Collingwood are compared to us post game would think it was a 15 goal margin .

Sounded like its the first time he has watched us all year .

Offerred nothing bar our midfield is ordinary .....Joey kindly offerred to tell him that why we drafted mids

35 pressure acts also.

Umpiring was shit both ways.

That free to Butler against Moore for tunneling the legs was tragic! One of the worse decisions I’ve ever seen.
I didnt think it was a free kick either. Looked like Butler was falling before contact was made, rather Moore having swept his legs out from under him.

Front on contact - despite not actually making contact in the marking contest.
Yeah there wasn't actually a contest before CJ made front on contact (pushed off Henry's chest). Mind boggling decision though.
There will be no explanation, no accountability for these decisions. The afl needs it's own icac

To keep him on, or not pay a trip?
You’ve got a big bodied mid ready with fresh legs on the bench.
You’ve got a injury prone forward who risked further damage… unable to halve a contest.
The decision to not drag him off baffles me. People banging on about how courageous it was.
For mine it was selfish.

Spewing etc etc

What was going on with Impey’s handballs?? They were either weak or to someone’s feet

Wish a few would shepherd a little more often

Impey has been average all year. He's playing about 60% of his best possible output. At his best he is a JET. At present form he is sucking game time out of the side which another player could use to improve.

Really it's time for Box Hill for Impey. Love him as a player but he looks VFL level, at present.

The afl has accredited the industry, so there's never accountability.
You question anything they do, you lose your accreditation, or you are relegated to puff-pieces. Noone is going to give up their day job to question the integrity of the league

Anyone getting annoyed with impey?
He is making really stupid errors , has lost a yard of pa e, and has limited agility
I had him not being in the best 22 come the end of the year. He's on track thus far.

We didn’t deserve to win we conceded far too many repeat I50’s especially late in the match and looked like we couldn’t break through the middle of the ground. Just couldn’t halve enough contests in that part of the ground and create stoppages and in turn they generally scored from it.
Just having been at the game not knowing I would assume around 80% of their score came from turnover.

Probs feel the same as most others about the umpiring but I just find myself so bemused every single week and left feeling jaded about it whenever we lose (or even win like in the Brisbane game). It just feels like so many get missed that are paid to the other side. Towards the end of the game I was just praying for random frees - like fk is that what it’s coming to?
I really hate ump blaming cause I thought they were just better for longer - but today was garbage again and it’s just making me not want to go to the footy anymore for fear of it being a waste of my ****ing time

Terrible decision. Moore did have every right and got to it first, Butler was second on the scene. Really sums up where umpiring is at the moment, just leaves a nastly pall over every game, win or lose.

I feel for the players, a pressure day in tough conditions. They at least have an excuse. The umpires do not. They have all the protection and allowances in the world and still dish up garbage like the 2 Ginnivan frees, the 2 Hawks howlers (Lewis and Butler) and plenty in between.

All im saying is Darcy Cameron had a good game

Darcy Cameron is 26 and has played all but 1 game this year, but let me guess, you wanted Reeves to come back in after a month of zero footy, with 11 games to his name and show him who was boss?

Reeves had him well beat in the middle. Was a difference maker in the second half.

Cameron beat him around the ground.

What I saw were two very different ruckmen making use of their strengths.

All things considered with where we are at these close losses where we get valuable Intel on how our young players stack up and our game plan is going to hold us in much better stead than banking up wins where we'd be otherwise making up numbers.

Winning flags is fun but there is something nice about going into games with absolutely zero stress knowing that if we win it's a fun sugar hit and if we lose its just another game getting us closer to a top pick and our next premiership run.

The Gunston decision is absolutely baffling.

Yes, especially given Howe can play as a big bodied mid, which would have been pretty handy in the wet, and we got very little output from Gunston after his injury. Gunston's great as a mobile player, but not the kind of player you leave on once he's had a mobility reducing injury, and hope he can still have an impact. Especially in the wet.
