We came back from 30 down and lose by 4 points.
Rather this outcome than be up by 30 and lose by 4 goals like we on few occasions this year.
We’re on the right track and it’s not about the win/loss it’s about finding the right game plan that suits us and also getting those high draft picks

I hope every one has settled down on Moore. He’s a deadset plodder. While I’m at it, Bramble and Impey are good players, very similar but are hopeless under pressure and when the need to make a decision. Play one and up the field. Can’t wait for the Mitchell and Omeara are gone. Just a hinderance
Clueless

He has every right to go for the ball, but he shouldn't be sliding in to a contest when he should be well aware that he's most likely going to take the legs out of others.
That's exactly why the rule was brought in. really.

Todays circumstance was not really what the rule was originally trying to stamp out.

The rule was (hastily) brought in to stop a player (most likely in the wet) sliding in and collecting a player standing sill, and (obviously) upright.

When two players are attacking the ball, it gets super grey.
The slider collects the upright player below the knees, the upright player simultaneously collects the slider ‘high’.

There was absolutely no way that was a free against Moore.
I imagine the AFL would admit as much on Monday.

If you can't admit the umpiring was atrocious overall and lopsided towards the Pies in pivotal moments, then you clearly have umpire tinted glasses.
Nope I just understand that you have to play the whistle and roll with. There's no point crying about it on Big Footy because it ain't going to change a thing. A lot of our problem is we expose ourselves to giving up a lot of free kicks because we can't control momentum. If we actually possessed the ball more and not turn it over then half of the free kicks we are giving up wouldn't have a chance to happen. The Ginnivan free's early on we're due to repeated i50 entries from us not being able to gain momentum and yeah some of them we're milked by him but if control the momentum then he's not in a position to get them.

Anyways I'm not going to argue / debate about silly crap like this because every team gets a rub of the green when it comes to frees for and no amount of whingeing will change the result.

Jesus. Brambles played like 15 games.
Do you expect 15-gamers to have Hodge-like composure?

He's a troll, look at his post from just the last week. These are the only thing he's posted, I'm not just selecting negative comments

"I hope every one has settled down on Moore. He’s a deadset plodder."
"Tom Mitchells touches just absolutely kill us"
"Howe and Shiels no more please"
"The 4 from tonight we need replacing are Shiels, Howe, Morrison (all slow by mind and foot) and Wingard ( plays like he's 38)."
"Kinda crazy Wingard looks this cooked and he's only what 28???"
"Wingard putrid"
"Honestly Downie looks the worst of the lot. Just no pace or urgency."

My take on today (and most of the year to be honest) is that we have some serious quality in our backline (Sicily, Scrimshaw, CJ, etc) and possibly the most exciting young key forward in the league in Lewis.

But obviously our midfield is bottom 3 and our ruck division is very much a work in progress.

If, and its a big if, we can get a half decent midfield unit in two years time we could be onto something good.

And really it shouldn't be that hard. Plenty of good midfielders (and right now all we need is good) getting limited opportunities at other clubs.

We just need to nail a couple of trades like Jarrayd Lyons to Brisbane or George Hewitt to Carlton and keep drafting midfielders in the national draft (and of course natural progression of Jai, Ward, etc).

If we can do this we will be back in the hunt quicker than we may think.

Was Gunston just a mascot to celebrate his mates 250th game? Looked average before he copped his ankle injury. .. and average after it. Surprised he came back so early.
He completely settled us in the latter part of the first by going down back and being the spare.

You are right though he should have come off

We seemed to play much better when we kept things simple and played to the conditions.

Something we didn't do all of the GC game and the first half.

Our skill level isn't where it's at to execute what we want to do at a consistent level but when we pull it off it's beautiful. Until we recruit players who can play to the required skill level we are going to be better suited to playing simple territory footy. Think Sam is happier for us to lose for the sake of 4 empty points.

Rubbish.
He decided to lose his feet and slide in. He made contact with another player's legs in doing so.

It should always be a free, so that we remove players thought process that sliding in is ok.

First half cost us, along with the putrid umpires.
Should have iced the game in the last when we wasted a few really gettable goals.
Lewis, Duke,Nash, Hartigan, Hardwick, we’re standouts. The rest were solid, except Impey and Gunston who was injured and probably should have been subbed out to give us more run. Cost us a few times by not being able to push off that ankle, and was beaten to the ball.

Newcombe- 24 disposals, 13 contested, 12 tackles, 8 clearances, 5 score involvements. That is elite.
12 tackles :kissing:

If he could start hitting the scoreboard a bit more that's pretty much the complete footballer and he is still what only 20.

Crazy!

Can't really agree with that assessment. He has more goals this season than most small forwards in the competition, and that's despite the fact he also plays up the ground a lot (he's currently 6th in the team for average disposals per game). He'd probably have a lot more goals if he stayed at home as much as someone like Wingard does. He's also #2 for inside 50s (behind only Jai). Also #2 in the side for total score involvements.

He's either a troll or one of those insipid types that drags everyone down.

I think the troll has been dealt with. Yay to mods

Spot on. The first contest in the 3rd it was get the ball.fwd at all.costs which is what we have been doing when we play well this year. Our first half ball movement was putrid.

He is built like a tank. Be imposing to play on.
