I honestly didn't think the umpiring was that bad. There were some big **** ups but ultimately they're going to happen every game. Outside of a few moments, I didn't think it was all that bad.

Fwiiw I thought the umpiring wasn't too bad compared to many of our games. The first King one was definitely there . There were the usual mistakes made but both teams copped it. Of course when you win you suck it up.
The score reviewer on the other hand made a monumental blue and a braindead intrusion. He's not there to turn something around without prompting unless it's a total howler. Got a bit too big for his boots.
Adams kicking was particularly bad on Saturday but overall this year he's been fine. I think the covid episode affected him more than people think and it's taking a little time to get back to full strength and awareness.Just one thing on connectivity etc - one easy fix we can make is ensuring we have a distributor near our key defenders for transitions. Adams has 15 kicks (including 4 inside 50s). It's a great effort for a key defender to have that many kicks, but ultimately we need to get as many of those kicks into the hands of Rich, Coleman or Starce - particularly the inside 50s. 30% of his touches were in the forward half too, yet only finished with 1 score assist.
That's not a true negative though as Adams did a hell of a job winning the hard ball himself and still had 11 1%ers, it's more just about connecting him with our weapons instead of him having to pull the trigger himself.

He's an awesome player and maybe we should cut him a little slack on his kicking for the time being. He wasn't on his own.
Of Course. I think the aim of any team is to get the ball in the hands of your best users.Adams was great on the weekend, even when you consider his kicking wasn't very good.
The point was less do to with his kicking and more to do with getting the ball into the right players hands. Even when Adams is kicking at his absolute best, he will never deliver the ball better inside 50 and into attacking positions than the likes of Rich, Coleman and Starce. When up the ground, he will never deliver the ball better than McCluggage, Zorko to Neale.
Nor does he have to though. He did an incredible job winning the ball and just needed team mates in better positions many times so he did not have to take the kick.
Hopefully the bye will do both him and the team as a whole the World of good.Adams kicking was particularly bad on Saturday but overall this year he's been fine. I think the covid episode affected him more than people think and it's taking a little time to get back to full strength and awareness.

It's because he's good at doing what the rest of the team refuses to do at times; man-up and defensive running.Robinson is cooked. Can't keep his feet anymore, which is always a sure fire sign a player is done. Every contest he goes to ground. I can not believe they brought him back in.
Watching him closely, there were many occasions where he was left labouring when running defensively. It's because he's good at doing what the rest of the team refuses to do at times; man-up and defensive running.

Yep. Watching on tv it was noticeable that Robinson has lost a yard or two of pace. Instead of gut running to lay a tackle, he was unable to, so was trying to coral players and cut off lanes.Watching him closely, there were many occasions where he was left labouring when running defensively.
Again a very average game by us against an opposition that we thought were going to be very tough but turned out to be weak.
I thought the 1 ruck, 3 tall forwards was a failure but time will tell. All three are coming of significant injury but for mine, we just look better when Fort is rucking and providing a wing target.
Disagree, did the same thing when playing in the reserves on the ball. Can't keep his feet any more. It's because he's good at doing what the rest of the team refuses to do at times; man-up and defensive running.
The crowd did not seem over boisterous (compared to some of the games I've been to). I was actually thinking we were a bit quiet given some of the calls being made. There was booing of the umpires, yes . . .but no where near enough to induce rectal fluttering in any of them.Had a quick look at the Saints board.Apparently it was injuries and umpires that caused them to lose.Umpiring caused by crowd pressure.

you think it went ok?Wow I'm stunned you had this opinion! Biggest shocker of the year.
Let me guess you want Joe dropped, lol.Again a very average game by us against an opposition that we thought were going to be very tough but turned out to be weak.

Look, I have the same opinion around playing both BigO and Fort. But Fagan built the squad and game plan around three tall setup of Daniher, Hipwood, McStay. He'll keep going for that setup as it hasn't been fully tested in finals with everyone available yet and when in full flight its proven to be lethal combo for us last year.Again a very average game by us against an opposition that we thought were going to be very tough but turned out to be weak.

Agree 100%. For us to seriously be a chance to win the flag, our best chance is with our 3 talls in the forward line. This separates us from the other sides along with Cameron, McCarthy, Bailey, Rayner, we are absloutely unstoppable providing we get the ball in enough times.Look, I have the same opinion around playing both BigO and Fort. Hipwood will be given all 10+ games for the rest of the season to find some synergy with Joe and DMac before finals. Coach will see this through with what he believes as the best game plan to win a premiership, regardless of what us supporters think.
I agree but one concern I have with going tall the weather forecast from July through to the end of September is: Wet up the east coast. Hopefully the weather favours us when we play but if wet on the day we may have to go small.Agree 100%. For the record, I also agree 100% with the coach's. Hippy wont get better playing reserves and apart from lacking match fitness, is playing his part in winning games. The more games he plays, the better he will get.
The great thing about Hippy and Dan is that thry're both great decision makers when the ball is in motion and they're both great field kickers. I think what will happen more is Dan and Hippy will play up the ground and Daniher van sit in the goal square waiting for a speccy or a joe the goose.Agree 100%.
