I'm continuing the trend of starting our weekly trade post a little early.
Fair to say Phillips will be a certainty of coming into 99% of squads next week. I'm allowing 1% for those who just don't care anymore. $121K price, 92 points this week plus def/mid dpp is a no-brainer.
The other one most likely to be on everyone's trade finger will be Joey Montagna. Started like a bullet train last night with 46 for the first quarter and although he didn't maintain this, 98 is still a good return. A price below $490 for a player who is averaging over 100 is again a "can't miss" trade.
Considering I made both these trades this week, I will not need to worry about the "traded button" at all this week. Already have 21 next week. Could have been 22 but I can't relocate my 7th forward anywhere else.

This week will be only my second week where no trades will be made. The upgrade of Smith to Neale will now be a week or two later than originally planned. Smith's 96 coupled with Neale's 87 will have a double edged price impact for their next two matches.

The thought of T McKenzie being a great D7 option is well and truly out the window.

I dont think he was ever really a good one. I mean I had a look but there is a reason he started the year at ~300k..... (EDIT: McKenzie just did his hammy so... RE-EDIT: No Hammy)

On another note, I am not sure of Hall as a top 6 forward.... Maybe an F7???

maybe Tucker -> Broad if he holds his spot

that would give me 21 available players (at best) and enough cash to do Kerridge/Wells -> Dangerfield the week after

My team for next week after trading in Hipwood & Yeo for Tucker & Smith:

Have a mid emergency and 22 if Currie gets up. Talk about bad bye round planning after last week.

Edit. I might swap Conca and phillips depending on who I think will score better

Schmidty, Strong midfield with Phillips, Trengove and Cripps on the pine. Conca and Suckling also on pine.

I just need to work out if:

Hipwood + Yeo long term are better then for example ubergang & Bartel... Bartel will only drop to ~460k in a few weeks but I would need a worse rookie for bench cover.

I am thinking that Hipwood has a good chance to play all year so with Suckling a great combo to save trades.

Edit: Also had a look and smith has a 40+ BE so his good score this week doesn't mean he is worth keeping especially that Yeo has a 50 BE.

Tucker -> Trent McKenzie
Kerridge -> Montagna
Greene (it's nice to be able to make luxury trades) -> Merrett

Leaves me with 20 players for the weekend (21 if Tom Cole comes back from the dead) and the following team for the rest of the year with 7 trades remaining:

Shaw, Simpson, Docherty, Bartel, McVeigh, Yeo, McKenzie, Cole
Mitchell, Steven, Hannebery, Ablett, Rockliff, Sidebottom, Lewis, Selwood, B. Crouch, Trengove, Jansen
Gawn, Martin, Cox
Merrett, Martin, Montagna, Hall, Barlow, Franklin, Petracca, Grimley

Will probably look to bring in Boyd for Yeo next week (assuming I can get enough cash out of Jansen + 40k to do so), then sit on my 5 trades for injuries for the rest of the year.

No. I have to stop you there.

You're bringing in an 18 year old with 2 games of experience playing as an 82kg KPF for a spoon contender, and you're going to have a crack at Trent McKenzie?

Exceedingly confident that barring injury McKenzie will play more games and average more points than the likes of Hipwood and Nathan Broad for the rest of the season.

I have Suckling at D7. So bringing in Hipwood @ F8, if there is an injury in the forward line allows me to swing Suckling forward and play him over Conca. I am bringing him in to never play but open up DPP for Suckling to give me awesome bench cover.

In addition, Hipwood is not my D7/F7, McKenzie is your D7 ;)

There is a huge difference mate between the strategies.

Tucker to McKenzie is such a waste of a trade. Even Joyce with his dpp is possibly better value (not that I would do that either)

Could do another 3 trades if I wanted too
Jansen --> Rookie (not sure who, already have Phillips)
Collins --> Broad
Ruggles --> Docherty

Would set up my backline with Shaw, Simpson, Docherty, Boyd, Laird, Biggs (Birchall, Broad)
Not sure if its worth burning 3 trades just for that, probably not. Might look at offloading Kerridge sometime soon.

Ruggles has a BE of 2.
Collins has a BE of 11.

Unless you need on-field points or team structure, I am not sure if they are worth trading this week.

Really depends how you are sitting for next week as both Collins & Ruggles have their bye.

Value schmalue, I'm only one upgrade/downgrade away from a completed team. Downgrade options for me at this point aren't about maximising cash generation, they're about filling holes in my bench coverage. I have Crouch and Trengove covering the mids, Petracca covering forwards and Mason Cox able to go forward or ruck, so those positions are set. My defensive cover, on the other hand, is looking pretty dodgy.

I want a D7 with job security, and McKenzie has far better job security than the likes of Hipwood and Broad. Probably better than Tucker too. He's had two poor games in a row in a Ross Lyon coached team coming off of a big loss, if he holds his spot for Round 16 I'd be shocked.

Next week Jansen goes via DPP with Cole to bring in whoever of Hipwood/Broad/Lee (would love him to get back)/somebody out of the blue like Kieran Collins or Riley Bonner looks like being the best option for the rest of the year. And I have the advantage of an extra week to judge which of those guys is the best pickup. So yeah, I can use a trade and have a defensive bench of McKenzie + one of those guys for the rest of the year, or I could save a trade and ride out the year with a defensive bench of Jesse Joyce and Tom Cole while Jansen and his 80k price rise sits gathering dust at M11. I know which option looks better to me.

Williams > Suckling
Kerridge > Treloar
Davis > Phillips
Leaves me with 6 trades and 220k
Happy with my bench cover just got one more spot to upgrade in the mids and I'm done !

Reckon after the byes I may have Yeo @ D7 depending on how they both go this week.

Cripps after this week makes my happy I have the extra midfielder. He seems like somone that I will carry the whole year but has been absolute rubbish for a wanted premo.
