I think most here are resigned to whatever happens.

Optimistic ,expect to win ,but if we don't we're still in with a shot.

It's not as if we haven't been disappointed before. Sometimes for decades on end in my case.

Lol but if we do lose, there will be people on here losing their mind.

On another note, I am glad to see you safe and well Marty, I was afraid when the team announcement last night still had Gunners in it might have floored you.

“Put up or shut up”: If the Lions can't beat the Pies tonight, they can't win the flag, says David King.

It'll be a lot easier if the boys just win tonight. I don't want to go through a week of meltdowns on here and in the media.
I am sure most of the Victorian pundits would be contributors to a death riding Lions thread somewhere online.

I think Kingy has claimed each of the top 4 teams can't win the flag over the last few weeks. Carlton's flag to lose.

His full on panic about Collingwood last week because his pies flag daicos brownlow multi looked shaky was very funny. Anyway 1 week later and they were back as the number 1 seed.

There is a chance Melbourne could slip up in their two remaining games. Port has a tough away trip this week too, so a win tonight COULD lock up spot 2 even with a loss next week (though I don't expect to lose that either).

Port have 2 strong wins and the Pies have 2 bad loss's, why cant they slip to 3rd?
They can but it is a bit unlikely.
Port have to make up 15.7% in 2 weeks not the 20% mentioned by Squizz89.
However, it is still a big ask. Port play Dockers away and Tigers at home.
Pies have Lions and Bombers both in Melbourne.

I just hope we win tonight and that sets us up to secure 2nd spot the following week v Saints at The Gabba.

How come this game is at Marvel?
Contractual. MCG tenants are allocated 1-2 home games at Docklands each season.

Heading in shortly, going in super early as I imagine this'll be packed.
There hasn't been a packed house there in a decade. Should be a healthy attendance but Collingwood fans don't really turn up at Docklands. Carlton game earlier this year drew 45,000 so I'd use that as a yardstick.

There was a part of me that said just laugh it off.

And another part that said he's playing in a leg brace. Genius diversionary masterstroke.

Sort of disappointed when it was all a hoax.

Don't all team blogs go nuts when teams lose games they're expecting to win ?

The good thing about it is you get cheap entertainment for a couple of days.

I'm honestly expecting us to have a comfortable win. The Pies really peaked last week and can now take the foot off the pedal for a week or two.

We now need to start building into the finals. We've had our Barry Crockers.

Kingy is just extremely reactionary, it’s not really a pro-vic thing for him at least.

He’s been very quick to praise us at other times of the year when we play well

I think it was during the Geelong game he turned from being really negative on us and gradually got more and more positive as the game went on before dropping off again after the game

If TV commentators aren't reactionary they don't get the profile and the media space they're seeking.

They're just itching for opportunities to overreact to success or failure.

Even if we win, media will carry on with "but can they do that at MCG".. narrative will be the same either way.

Don't understand how you can say that. They lose both home & away games remaining and can easily drop to 3rd. Dropping from top of the ladder to 3rd after they have been on top all season would not instill confidence in the group moving into finals.

"Getting in the heads of our players" is a good story but I very much doubt those type of games are played in the modern game. Winning breeds success and losing can turn toxic pretty quick. They have lost 2 of their last 3 and I am sure they dont want it to be 1 win 3 loss's out of their last 4 games if they can help it.

Yep Pies have almost as much to play for and will be at 100%. Momentum is huge. The Lions will know this and hopefully be switched on from the get go.
