We really have been our own worst enemies this year

That’s true but it’s also true that so have every other team…you literally cannot have a season this even without that being true

Anyone see the #1 Swans get their pants pulled down a week or two ago?

Failing to close out games is nowhere near as bad as not being in them after half time

We’ll be ok, season’s not over 🦁

Some people are pretty immature judging by the way they're handling this.

I’m feeling pretty morally superior to others given that I haven’t even kicked the dog after losing by a point to Collingwood to miss out on top 4.

We were playing the PREMIERS today. Not West Coast or anyrhing.
And Giants last week are Not a bad side . I've backed them to win the GF this year.
Brisbane lost quite narrowly to both those sides. 2 Very High rated sides.
It's Not the end of the World (or Premiership chance) a one point loss ??
sure... Lions missed the easy shots at goal so lost. At least they were Getting Easy Shots at goal . shows 'Some' ability.
Go Lions !! for the win.

Oh, I'm the same. The years since 2004 were traumatic for all of us. But we're there simply to make up numbers. Our hot streak was 9 wins in a row. They're done now.

Anyway, did the ladder predictor and it's unlikely we miss finals, unfortunately.

Respectfully this is a load of doodoo.

I don’t have much hope now mainly because we’ve most likely lost the double chance but we are not just making up the numbers.

We beat Port by 78 at their home ground midway through the season who are looking to make the top 4. We beat Sydney but only by 2 and they lost to Port by 112. We lost to Geelong, Freo and the Giants in our shit 2-5 start and lost to the Giants again in a close game.

Who are the only teams in it this year now? Every single team in the eight has had a patch where they’ve stunk it up and our last two games are hardly the worse comparing those stretches.

Our window is closed for the next decade after tonight
I mean if there's one positive to take away from this rollercoaster of a season it's been the train of promising young players coming through, with Levi still to join them. Hopefully the next wave isn't built as mentally fragile when it's their turn to lead.

Have to think about where the improvement is going to come from. Can’t be throwing to toys out

Charlie and Zac back in form, Ashcroft defensive game, Clug finding consistency, injured players back
As frustrating as coughing up today was, I have to agree. We are primed for 2025.

People underestimating what a fit Doedee adds to our group. Bloke was the next captain of Crom before Dawson.

Coleman returning adds defensive transition and frees up Zorko.

Levi and Linc bolsters our forward stoppage game.

Hopefully we can add Dew to our coaching mix in a bigger capacity.

soo frustrating

Need to work on 2 things urgently.

Sticking to tackles. Need bjj training or league training. How to deal with fends. Ways to use your body. Bailey is just not up to it unfort in a top team...hate to say it

Goal kicking. This should be on top of normal massages training erc.
I am amazed that they cant internally recognise it and adjust.

fages is a great head of development man. Not game day coach. No ways to stop any runs...and it has been like that for yrs. Why doesnt he give the umps a spray like fly did and didnt get fined for it?! Fages is just too nice n not ruthless enough. Fact

We lost because were not mentally tough enough...that's why players like Bailey can laugh 1 mins after we've dropped the double chance and he personally has coughed up the game with no awareness as well as a simple shot missed from 15m out in the 3rd ...and Rayner miss also amateurish too. Not mentally strong enough when its counts.

This is the guts of it. The same guys do the same things and we fall short the same ways.

Years of it is getting tiresome.

Time for some big calls.
The worry is that several of our best dynamic players are at the back end or getting closer to the back end of their careers (Cameron, daniher, McCarthy, Neal etc) next year so someone has to fill the void. We have some beautiful young players coming through... the two Ashcroft's et al, but some of our tall backline for example don't have reliable replacement at this stage so we could be an unbalanced team with front half fire power like some other teams...

What has been evident all season is the utter selfishness of our forwards. Time and time again they take selfish low percentage option, Bailey and Daniher are the worst offenders by miles.

I also agree about missing finals but we won’t just so that we can have a full pre-season. We get beat time and time again the same way. Hopefully Berry’s hamstring is only minor.

Sorry to intrude, your best is still good enough, just need to play a good month and it can be done. It's that kind of year.

The above is my big observation, selfish forwards led by Daniher (who played really well, but could have been significantly better if he had an extra brain cell or two)

We also have got worked out a bit. Zorko a one trick pony has finally been exposed by being forced to be accountable. Our backlines reliance on Andrews intercept game also got shown up. Hopefully Doedee can give us another interceptor and Kiddy can give us a distributor who can work defensively.

Really need our mids to be more consistent. Shouldn’t lose clearances like we have the last 2 weeks against poorer clearance teams. Oscar also a part of that

Called it earlier in the week. That’s why I was spewing we lost our home game last week. We are not up to it against them. First quarter aside we just struggled. We don’t match up well against those quicker type of forward lines.

A lot of players just lost their heads/ got spooked.

Defensively we are really battling without another quality key position defender or two. It’s up to Andrews to intercept everything.

And the defensive 50 stoppage work today was deplorable too. Thought Cameron destroyed Big O after qtr time.

We all entitled to call it how we see it mate . And that was a pathetic weak effort once again .
We lost by a point against Collingwood at the MCG .

An initial burst of frustration and now I'm just wondering why I've moved on so quickly.

I don't want a game of football to be the make or break of my weekend.

We are a great team for 90% of the time. 90% of a game, and 90% of all games.

The 10% that kills us can't be the thing that defines us.

This season has been tough. I'm happy to take a longer off season, regroup and come back an over the top, passionate fanatic next year.

Anyone with multiple brain cells knows that two things can be true…we missed chance AND the umpiring was disgusting!
I’ve been watching the game long enough to know if you don’t use the footy wisely when you got it and blame the umpire for losing your
Well never going to get there
Plenty chances to put the game away and we shite ourselves
