The only player that I don't thing should play is Mullins when someone like Clohesy deserves a debut. Clohesy has been good in the VFL all season, puts up better numbers, and absolutely deserves a game. Mullins so green he absolutely needs to spend a season in the VFL to come to grips with the game because when he has been in the AFL he generally looks lost.
Clohesy puts up better stats because he plays on the ball, in part.

I see selection carnage on Thursday. And rightly so.
Out: Duncan, Danger, Sav, Holmes (ankle), Close, Hawkins, Cameron, Smith, Tuohy
In: Conway, Knevitt, Dempsey, Foster, Hardie, Mullin, Whyte, Clohesy, Simpson

You’re welcome, Bulldogs…

Doubt that.

And even if that happened we'd still lose.

Which alot of us want

Think alot of people have drank a bit too much of the Mullin kool aid to be honest, right now all he can really do is run fast, in terms of footy IQ and general skills hed be close to the worst on our list, that's not getting addressed in one pre season hes going to need time to actually learn the games fundamentals.

Throwing him to the wolves in senior footy and making him look like a witches hat isn't the right way to go about his development either in my personal opinion.

Develop the guy in the VFL and expose him to the AFL when he is actually ready, like every other Irishmen that has come before him.

Could not careless about this game - total dead rubber ( from Cats perspective )- and wont even waste time watching it

Punters have launched into the Dogs and i think they are right

Opening Market Geel $1.50 Dogs $2.75

Its now Dogs $1.85 and Cats $1.95 - and i think that is correct - Cats have run out of players - and surely the Dogs play with intensity this week to get back into the 8

Mullin is miles ahead of Clohesy as a potentially impactful player right now. Every time I've seen Mullin at VFL level he impressed me. Extremely clean when under pressure, great ball use making consistently good decisions, stands up physically, etc. He's clearly still trying to work out what to do at any point so occasionally makes bad blues but 90% of his game is very good.

Clohesy might make it. He's extremely tough and courageous and shows good skills at times. But at the moment he's fumbly and gets out bodied at VFL level. Playing him would be unfair on him. He's nowhere near ready.

Mullin showed he was a mile off already and was a liability in the game earlier in the year, I'm not a fan of just gifting games regardless of the stakes.

Cooper Whyte deserves a chance far more if we are looking for defensive reinforcements let him attack out of defence in Duncan's role or release Bowes to play more attacking minded footy.
Cooper had his best game for the year on the weekend…after being moved back to the backline (played wing most of the year). I would love to see him get a proper game - not sure it will happen

In 12 months time when we've loaded up / freshened up / and back in contention .... not many will remember what happened in a dead rubber in the last game of the year at Geelong the previous year.

Why risk players who are carrying niggles, or would benefit from getting early surgeries. And why risk finishing as low as 13th and securing a comfortable pick inside the top 10 at the draft, just to scratch out a hard fought win against the battling dogs. Who cares.

Our list still has a good spread of talent - we won a flag last year - and potentially we walk away like bandits 12 months on with a pick 7 or 8. It's daylight robbery.

Exactly

And thats why the punters have launched into the Dogs - Geel have got a stack of injured players plus a suspension - and as you say quite correctly they will rest anyone who has got the slightest niggle

Not trying to put the pressure on the Dogs - but they should bolt this game in and i think they will - then they have to rely on the Blues beating the Giants - the only worry their for the Dogs - is that game is a total dead rubber for Carlton as well - even though they are heavily favoured to win it

Complete dead rubber for Blues but if Giants win they make finals. Couldn’t ask for a worse scenario for the dogs going into that game

Good going into a game that's a win win. If we win all good, if we lose we get an earlier draft pick and easier draw next year.

The only thing to negate that - is Carlton have been out of the finals for a long time - so i dont think they will take their foot off the pedal and stuff around with their form - even though its a dead rubber for them

Spot-on.

Stanley not yet ruled out - will need to pass a fitness test to play
Much as I love Stanley, this week we need to consolidate, so Conway must play

consolidate the best draft pick- why not, we NEVER get the opportunity
