50k is plenty. Anyone you trade in needs to make 150k on top of what Davey makes to be worth it. Getting 120-130k downgrading a rookie is typically a lot more valuable for one up one down type upgrading than getting 70k now.
I want to take risks this season

Jones to Michalanney doesn't give enough cash for that. Jones to Young does, but then Im fielding two of Wilmott, Cowan and Young lol. Maybe I do that if Constable somehow gets named after a good reserves game.
Jones to Mich generates $73k which would be enough itself to do Docherty to Stewart without the additional $16k you have, wouldn't it?

Jones is $260,600, Mich is $244,200, I make $16,400 on that trade.
Apologies, was looking at Footywire which hasn't updated.

In that case, you could turf Davey if he misses and move Constable to the midfield, and bring in Young.

If Mackenzie gets dropped/rested, I'm tempted to use the Doc injury to finally nab my sweet Piggy ahead of Melbourne's ridiculous upcoming run, i.e. Doc -> T Young, Mackenzie -> Oliver.

Leaves me very weak down back for one round, but can then swing Sheezgull and/or Ziegull down back next week.

As I said earlier though, my trades will be very team-dependant this week. If Davey, Ginbey, Wilmot or Cowan don't play, the plans will shift a bit.

That being said, could just to Doc -> Stewart with the cash I have, but Melbourne play Essendon, Richmond, North, Gold Coast and Hawthorn over the next five. It sounds silly, but there's a very real chance that knocks out 700-750 points over that period, and the captaincy option he gives me makes the outlay worth it.
With Day out for 2 weeks, Mackenzie almost certainly should see a CBA spike. If named he's a must hold IMO.

Tarrant out indefinitely now. Gibcus still medium-term. Even with Broad back soon, I reckon Young sticks around.

Considering this move. Doesn’t leave me with much coin left over and would be my second boost.

Could bring in JvR or Sampson instead of Young but forward line is pretty stacked with rookies.

I personally wouldn't go there (though it's more a structural thing for me), but he could make some cash as a stepping stone if needed. Absolute gun player, but still primarily playing his minutes up forward.

Petracca and Smith could get forward DPP next week. Add that to the likes of Dunkley, Gulden, Taranto, Rozee, Cameron, Sheezel, Ziebell, Moore, Cogs and maybe some others, and he's a fair way back in the keeper queue. His Round 1 score will only count in his rolling average this week, too.

Still, not the worst pick, just an awkward price to be bringing in at this point IMO.

Folks 4 weeks before Round 1 -" if a 365k player isn't a keeper he's a bad pick"

4 weeks after Round 1 "he might make some cash and be a good stepping stone".

Edit: to be clear, I am agreeing with your sentiments

Doch out is my opportunity to finally get Nicky Daics.
Genuinely shocked you don't have Nicky D.

If Heeney was on fire, I don't think I could sleep at night knowing 50% of the comp were enjoying his weekly monster scores.

My FOMO is way too severe.

1 trade now. Doc to Dawson (cash retained from down trading Flanders, Callaghan and Gawn).
The rest can wait a week.

Devastating news about Doc being sidelined. Many SC had decided to hold hoping he’d bounce back. I was looking forward to the melts.

Was on my preseason watch list. Genuine midfielder available down back who can pump out tons. Not much downside apart from age and durability.

Love to have a beer 🍻 with Duncan .
He might get rested latter in the year ..

Given he's been inj for a bit .

Normally the inj player slows down second game back from inj .
But we don't have that luxury with inj doc .

Any love for Duncan as a docherty replacement?
Would stay away personally. Last year was his worst averaging SC year since 2013 (88) - only 5 tons out of 19 games. Playing half-back for us in an attacking role, but without the huge ceiling those roles can have due to Stewart, Tuohy, Zuthrie and others. Bit of uncertainty with role as well, as he can be pushed up onto the wing or half-forward depending on match-ups.

Based on last year, Monday's game is pretty much his ceiling. Most teams won't let him get 14 marks and 21 kicks every week, so he's way more likely to give you 70-95 than 100+. Cannot see him being a Top 6 by average either.
