Another year of the AFL messing with the game and destroying the soul a little more. Meanwhile, in the VFL they are trialling new Under 9's rules, the SANFL have their own set of interpretations and the same with the WAFL.

Our game looks like a complete joke because the people at AFL HQ focused on tv rights and revenue of that league (as they should be) are also allowed to have the keys to the rules of the game.

It is time for all footy lovers to begin a campaign to have the Rules of the Game Committee moved to being an independent body with representatives appointed from the AFL, VFL/East Coast, SANFL and WAFL. Each of the 4 committee members have equal votes and the rules are established as uniform across all competitions. The committee would have the right to "trial" new rules in the lower leagues and should have limitations in place.

The Committee would also have an Umpires Committee that establishes the interpretations and rules across all leagues.

The AFL is the governing body of the whole sport, somehow. They don't need to ask the WAFL, SANFL or the VFL their opinions.

And because the fans don’t care about the sport anymore they can do what they want. They wouldn’t get away with it in the 70’s and 80’s. The fans cared then.

I noticed the link to the rules is out of date
Mostly the 2017 rules are the obvious ones people will click on to find a specific rule
However their is a link to 2019 rules if people notice it.
For Chief
Could you replace your link with this one as reply's are closed in your section.
It is the 2020 rules and of course things will change in 2021 but more up to date
Cheers
