As the supplements controversy continued to erupt on Saturday, it also emerged Essendon ruckman Patrick Ryder had a brief meeting at AFL House on Thursday to clarify part of the statement he made when interviewed by ASADA.
Anyone got cliffs on what this is all about?
I know Ryder seems to have been having a difficult time, but don't know any details

Going through massive family issues right now because of this saga.

Guess that doesn't matter to people though as long as they get their kicks. :thumbsu:
If he refused banned/prohibited substances he wouldn't have a problem.
If he has been a F*wit then I have sympathy for the effects on his family. Same as I would for any family affected by a stupid relative.
Do the crime do the time.
Hopefully he has fessed up and dobbed in the instigator and will get time off.

All he had to do is say "No .. im not taking pig brain ... calf first milk and bark and AOD.. peps and Thymosin Beta4"

and he would be ok now....

instead he said "OK" and ran Cox and NicNat ragged on the very large oval in the west down last month....

So I take it Hirds reassurances haven't put him at ease. The players stand to be the real victims here. But for Hird, it seems its all about his reputation

If players are under this sort of pressure in their home life because of this then the people who caused it have a lot to answer for.

This is the serious side of the issue that goes deeper than a club v club rivalry. These are the real consequences of a series of very bad decisions.

How can you possibly blame the players for this mess?

cue an old warner brothers cartoon of a sinking ship and rats jumping.

essendon need to know they can run but can not hide.

ist like, cheating is real and you get caught and have to do the time.

Very simply under WADA rules responsibility rests solely with the players.
Who else could be at fault ?
I have it on the authority of more than 50,000 EFC members that Jimmy had nothing to do with it.
They will blame the players for forcing Hird to make them stronger by any means. Those bastard players!!!!

I agree in part, but the media claim this whole the players are the victims, most can agree, but the non stop reporting of crap for months on end, and them having family friends subjected to it, they have made it worse too.

So when none of these players receive bans, are they still at fault?

When none of these players receive bans, do you think the club still deserve the blame for the vitriol that they have had to have been subjected to? Or did the sensationalist media play a part?

It was up to Essendon to ensure they weren't put in this position. The club has failed in every facet of duty of care to the players here.
