Good news with their hands on, especially for the Xbox version. Not much can be done about the loading times though as that's dependant on the hardware. UE loading works on a built in Async node that waits for a return before finishing its execution. It probably loads quicker in indoor maps but even for outdoor maps with world partitions and level streaming (chopping the map up into smaller chunks and loading them in and out) it just is what it is.

 
Felt there was a real flat period there for a few years where there weren't a lot of new games (especially AAA) up my alley, but this year (including Stalker 2) has been quite nuts.

Been picking up quite a few smaller indie stuff like Selaco and Boltgun and stuff in the meantime, played a lot of FIFA until I gaave up my Game Pass subscription, but I am looking forward to so many AAA games. And I include stuff like Star Wars Outlaws, Space Marine 2 and Veilguard I have yet to play.

Hell, I'm even excited about the new CoD for the first time since probably the OG Modern Warfare.

Hardware recommendations and some NVIDIA benchmarks have been released. I think the entry is pretty fair but 32gb of RAM recommended for medium 1440p and up seems bonkers. I bet their test rigs ran 16gb and it came close to chewing it up so they just "recommend" 32gb and it doesn't actually need it.

Results roughly as expected. Lots of people online don't seem to realise the NVIDIA benchmarks are at max settings at 4K. As long as the game is stable without hitching and stuttering at whatever settings and configurations I don't mind winding settings back.

I assume a Ryzen 5600 with an AMD 6600-XT should be okay since I'm content with 1080p.

Definitely if by going by their guide as you would fall between 1080 med and 1440 high. Something they've omitted but is obvious from the NVIDIA benchmarks is these recommendations are done with upscaling and frame generation. On a Radeon card you'll be limited to TSR and the quality of anything temporal can be hit or miss so you might still have to do a bit of manual tweaking to your liking

They have previously as said there will be no hardware raytracing at launch so being a UE5 title it will be using the default software Lumen. Interesting though because they list a 1060 or RX580 for low but I've tried running UE5 projects on a laptop I have with a 1660ti that Lumen absolutely tanks which leads me to believe they must have done a heap of work with lighting and shadows. You can't bake lighting with a day/night cycle so to be able even suggest this can run at 1080p with those sorts of graphics cards means Lumen must be a toggle and there has been a heap of handcrafted lighting.

I've heard the game will have FSR 3.1, hope that's true. I'm still not too familiar with the upscaling and frame gen techs but I was of the belief it's meant to be a bit better than TSR.

Yeah FSR is much better than stock TSR. TSR is actually built into UE so it's default. I haven't seen what version of FSR Stalker is running but the latest is supposed to be pretty good but I haven't played anything with it yet as it's quite new and also as a 4080 owner I will obviously use DLSS first if available.

I have zero expectations that this will be anything other than a janky mess at launch, but I am still super keen.

Oh it definitely will be! I think it will take quite some time with plenty of performance patches and I don't think any launch issues will be as a result of the extenuating circumstances of GSC. I think it will be plagued with the same issues every large open world game has suffered from. I believe they've had a custom branch of UE5 so I just hope they have ironed out some of the more typical UE5 gremlins like compilation and traversal stutter.
