That article talks up how good our list is, especially the young crop of players. Doesn't fit with the narrative that the Hinkley defenders are pushing that it's not Hinkley's fault he hasn't been able to make a Grand Final because he is hampered by a list of absolute potatoes.

Hinkley eats steak medium-well done. Another thing to dislike about him.

I'm a Ken Hinckley guy, and I'm throwing down a gauntlet.

Long and short of it is he DOES know how to coach and win.

Last year was rough, no doubt. But that's when Ken did his best work! He managed a list that got better each week and they did it without a ruck. It's like playing on one leg.

I doubt we had a list at better than 80% strength for any single match last year but Kenny held that team together with duct tape and ibuprofen.

Did you hear any players belly-aching about needing a new coach? Mutiny in the locker room? Guys misbehaving off pitch and not focusing on their jobs?

Nope.

Ken got the best out of what was there. Those guys that matter believe in Ken Hinkley. And so should you.

We stay healthy, and I'm telling you all, this team is a contender. You can argue and throw stats, and pretend like you know better than the people in the desks and on the grass at Alberton. But if you do, don't you dare stand up at the Oval and start singing "Never Tear Us Apart" like you mean it.

Because the team means it. And Management means it. So keep yer traps shut , because YOU should mean it too.

I hear there's a bunch of Cows that chew cud on our pasture when the real men aren't on it. I know Ken doesn't coach them. Perhaps change your gear if you don't like it. Yellow would probably look good on you

Ooohhh.
Such tough words!
So incorrect in so many places in that article.

Why worry when you have no accountability to anyone?
Easy street.

People who believe that the players being extremely comfortable with the coach is a good thing clearly have no idea.

What employee wouldn't love a boss with very low performance expectations and rarely, if ever, holds them to account.

The other day I was shown a recent screenshot from the ‘True Believers’ closed shop that my native Facebook account and two burners have been banned from.

It’s a cult. No exaggeration.

The type of people who still back him are long past objectivity and rational thought — he’d have to have a Finniganesque scandal for them to sour on him, and even then he’d still have his backers.

If Stickerman was ever outed it wouldn’t surprise me if one of those lunatics firebombed his domicile.

"All on the same page"

Even the caveat at the end of the quote, “this is not knocking him as a coach”.

Why not?

What makes this guy so Teflon-coated to the point of infallibility?

It’s absolutely incredible how easy this bloke has had it, considering.
