Acres had the fumbles real bad.

He took 10 marks, the most by far of any of our players, not bad for a guy with the fumbles.

Unfortunately for us most of those marks weren't in dangerous positions, he should be pushed forward more and used as a forward target like Bontempelli.

He's deceptively tall for a midfielder and has a good pair of hands so he can pluck an overhead mark and is one of our better set shots for goal.

For some reason our coaching staff don't use him as well as they should, probably Richo trying to keep him on the bench rather than our starting 18.

We all know he hates him.

In the game til the last quarter but felt the ball was played in their half after half time.

Selwood and Danger were huge and it felt they had more numbers around the contest and they evaded our tackles a lot easier than we evaded theirs.

When we kick Long into our f50, like we did all game, it would be nice if one of our forwards was a pack marker but all our forwards just go up for the mark with no one left to crumb.

Thought our defence held up pretty well despite the score line because they did seem to slice us up on turnovers from basic skill errors such as missed marks (Steele) or easy missed goals (Bruce).

The day made worse by Eagles being the biggest bunch of front runners just after 20 other Geelong blokes not named Selwood or Dangerfield.

The Hickey v Longer debate rages. Why not for once play them in the same team and see how they fare on the day and be done with it ?
Longer won the hitouts but didn´t see him do much around the ground. Did he take a mark ?

we needed intercept marks in the D50 today. that was missing.

Nothing I hate more than losing to that c*mstain of a football club. Today has ruined me... I'm in a world of hurt and can't shake it. F***ing Joel Selwood the protected species even cops free kicks when he is taken high by his own bloody teammate! (First quarter)
Can someone tell me why Rooey had to give it back to Gilbert when he had a shot 30 out to get within a goal? Completely crushed our momentum! I could go on.. the Mackie 50 for absolutely nothing!
But what gripes me probably even more than all that is the fact that some oxygen thiefs on here keep calling for the heads of our young talented players. How on earth are we ment to ever win a flag if we don't play the likes of Billings, Paddy and Gresham?
4 pages or more of the sh** when fringe players like Weller have been absolutely shocking and previously Savage... but yer nah let's ignore that and call for Greshams head. So so backwards some of you!

Not angry at all K. Just calling what I saw. Did Long actually get one possession? Gresh was poor there is absolutely no denying it. I wouldn't drop him but he'll seriously need to lift.
6 disposals 2 marks 1 tackle for Long. Not enough but certainly not the worst ever.

Gresh will be angry with himself.

Well its hard to drop Savage when he is already dropped and Paddy was dropped by the club not the footy forum. You can develop players in the seconds. Didn't Hurt Steven. Or Michael Tuck.

I think Dunstan has virtual immunity from being dropped.
He seemed to be doing a job on dangerfield at one stage, but dangerfield gradually became more and more effective as the hand wore on.
Don't think he's worth much in terms of trade bait either.

You see this is what I don't get. Blaming Dunstan for Dangerfield being good then saying trade him off. Wake up Jeff your brain is melting.

Look at the wholw team campaigner please don't tell me Dunstan is the only reason we lost ifs.

Think it's fair to say our game plan is unsustainable. We just run out of gas so often.

Really question whether Richo has the chops from a tactical POV, although this is something I've wondered for a fair while. We seem desperately lacking in a plan B of any kind.

If we don't pick up one of Dusty/Fyfe/Rocky/Hopper or even M Kennedy in the coming offseason we are kidding around. If we miss out on the first 3, throw the chequebook at Hopper.

I think we're going to have an awful sense of deja vu at the end of the year as regards our % at the pointy end of the season. Cats are strong finishers but we need to keep a lid on the loss. Similarly last week should have been a 4 - 5 goal victory and Brisbane 8 - 10.

And that 50 on Joey. It didn't affect the outcome but I really want to see something from the AFL. It's not good enough for the umpire to say "we'll sort it out later". Like when? Anyway I thought we got a bunch of softish frees in the second and things were pretty even after that umpiring wise. But just the notion of thinking that he could say "we'll sort it out later" and that is somehow acceptable.

Some teams are better at attracting frees than others. The Bulldogs are masters at attracting frees as are certain players, such as Selwood.

Our team, due to our want to hunt the ball carrier, are more susceptible to tackling too high.

Where do you come up with this stuff?

The game plan is fine

Nobody with any brains could mount a case for Dunstan last week, let alone this week. How can you carry a mid getting 12 possies? Plus he craps himself in front of goal.

Apart from the scoreline, I thought the backline did a good job. We were up by about 14 in contested ball at half time but we fell away and lost it by 24.
The recruiters have done well recruiting some decent role players, but they need to recruit some gun midfielders. What are they doing with Dunstan? What is his role? I don't understand how you can only get 12 possessions while your opponent/s get 31 (Dangerfield) and 42 (Selwood) respectively playing in the same areas. Why can't he get the ball? Have they turned him into a tagger? Maybe his not fit enough and can't work around the ground?

That tells a story cause seriously I can't remeber one of those possessions and trust me I'm really barracking for Ben.

Like I said Gresh shouldn't be dropped and the average of 13 possessions (quoted by someone on here) deoesn't give you a true indication of what he does. Today was a day we couldn't afford passengers.

i feel really shit about the game but as barrels said its just footy and we need perspective on whats important

having said that it still feels ****in awful, feels like the big clubs continue to have a dominance. we will continue to get shafted by the umpires and will forever be playing in adversity. adversity's great but **** me, it'd be nice just to have an easy ride for once

seeing hawthorn bounce back, freo win, dogs win. especially the dogs flag last year. its nauseating. geelong pick up a phone and get one of the best players in the land back on a pay cut cause he wants to return home. dockers do the same but with lesser players but still okish talent on the same come home pitch. dogs gifted a rule change with a bunch of father sons.

just wish we could get some ****in run at it

Not blaming Dunstan at all, Geelong were simply too good, and I'm not saying I would trade him either. He still has time to improve.
Just said I don't think he would garner much value in the trade table.

No need to get upset.

I don't often post here but I thought Ross showed plenty of signs that his onward march to being our midfield lynchpin continued. Weller, Bruce and Gresham disappointed but I can't see how dropping Gresh would help. Brown was fantastic against Dorkins(btw, is there a more shit rated forward going around than him?)and Carlisle showed improvement again. One more thing, is white in the VFL not the heir apparent to Websters spot? Great foot skills off halfback which we lacked tonight

That 50m to Mackie was a ****ing disgrace.. can someone please tell me how Zac Smith (who originally won the free kick) can handball to Mackie running past who shanks the kick. But is given a 50m penalty to have a shot directly in front 40 out??!!

Either it's Zac Smiths 50m, it's a downfield free if something happened to Mackie that I missed. Or it's play on and we rebound back into our 50m

And don't get me started on that free kick to Selwood after he gets cleaned up by his OWN TEAMMATE! Joke
