Look. The games he played last year, he looked gassed and had clear deficiencies.
Preseason and off season suggested issues with professionalism.

However, it’s hard to deny his talent. It’s hard to deny that his deficiencies are any worse than Brynn’s, Dante’s, Lycett’s or Jez and Dix.

I don’t know what the coaches want or see or don’t see, but it seems like we are missing something if Sam Hayes isn’t the best ruck option at Port.

He was averaging 30 hitouts a game. If that's gassed with clear deficiencies I dunno what you'd call teakle and Dante. Danta had 2 hitouts tonight.

Lycett's not reliable at this point in his career, Teakle's the back up but is injured too, Dante's not up to it just yet. What do they do it's a real problem?

There is absolutely no solution I can possibly see. None. We obviously don't have any other ruckman available, certainly not an up and coming 24 year old who won a SNAFL B&F 2 years ago and was 5-2 in the AFL side last year.

If we actually WANT to win the premiership this year we need to at least break even in Ruck.
Playing ruck kids before their time shows an incredible amount of arrogance.
We are not winning games by large margins.
The margin of error is very small.

Thought people were harsh on Dante last night he wasn't that bad really, perhaps Lord would've been a better patch job last night just a bit more comfortable in his skin at this point.

Purely speculating off Ken's presser last night, but I don't think they expected Scooter to miss the game. I suspect they wanted to give Visentini the opportunity of being part of the squad on a road game much like they did with Hugh Jackson going into the Richmond game earlier this season. The problem, of course was that when Scooter went down, Vis had to play.

After Dante's performance last night, if Scooter is out there is absolutely no way that he can be given a game over Hayes as the ruck given how they played yesterday in their respective games. This Club is right in the middle of a premiership window - now is not the time to be ****ing around gifting games to someone at a position of such importance.

Putting Hayes in the ruck also would allow Finlayson to stay forward where he's the Club's leading goal kicker this season. Just seems a no-brainer.

I am with you mate. I said to a mate last night that the benefits of travelling with the team as a young player in our current position do not even go close to the benefits of having your next best players as travelling emergencies. We are balls deep in this year and shouldn’t be mucking around with things like that. I like what Visentini projects to be long term, but if Lycett is no good it just has to be hayes at this point in time.

In the post game rozee said that Dante was actually prepped to play, then lycett said he was right to go at the last minute, so he took all the strapping etc off, then he failed the fitness test and Dante had to get ready again.
So I reckon they at least took with the thought that lycett was a good chance of dropping out.

They always take a tall and a small on the road as emergencies even if there's no expectation of anyone being out due to injury or illness at the last moment.

In this case, the SANFL side played the same day in another state. So from my perspective it seems as though they preferred to have Lord and Hayes get a run in the SANFL - because both of them are clearly ahead of Visentini at this point.
