Yes. He's older, was better than Sam Hayes in his B&F season and has only played 5 career games.

The Crows have also had an excellent and durable ruckman in O'Brien for most of his tenure keeping him from getting games. We spent half of 2022 not playing a ruckman at all.

So how many games in a row should a player get? When does a player get dropped to work on things at a lesser level? What sample size is required to assess a player?

It's not an exact science, but tall players generally take longer to develop and play in more important and difficult to fill positions, so they should generally be granted more leeway. It also has to be considered against our needs in that position. If you don't put the time in with players and give them a run at AFL level, you might find yourself in our current ruck situation, or the KPF situation of from Tredrea's retirement to Marshall's breakout season.

Just delete this thread, the club has thrown him on the scrap heap. They've hitched their wagon to the tinkle train. Imagine going into a season with a cooked lycett and wafl reserves ruckman being the only ones you're willing to play
Best list Hinkles had ever had, m8.

Its difficult to understand why he wasn't traded at the end of last year. Nothing has changed since then.

Maybe there is zero currency.

The fact no club came for him and he hasn’t forced a move himself (or been advised to by his manager) tells you everything you need to know.

I’m not sure the club has done much wrong here. Just maybe his level isn’t AFL

Last quarter of today's SANFL game says there's nothing wrong with Hayes that isn't salvageable. He's only 'checked out' when he's being wasted in a forward pocket. Give him the responsibility in the midfield as the main ruck and he plays far better than any other ruck on our list is capable of playing.

Maybe that's the trick to playing Hayes, leave him in the square for the first three quarters then inject him into the game as the super sub in the last.

Can absolutely see our coaches attributing Hayes' final quarter performance to Lycett and Visentini softening Brooksby up through the first three quarters. Real galaxy-brain stuff.

He really lit up that last quarter. Yes he was well rested but he was aggressive and hunted the ball. Then went forward and was still a scoring threat.

His leap at the bounces was awesome.

If they wanted him to be hungry to see what he could do, there's your answer.

Worked a great tandem with Vis.

Seeing him really try to hunt the ball was great. If he won't get a go at Port I hope he can get the most out of himself to get a go elsewhere.

Ya can't pick him just for beating sanfl opposition when he's playing reserves!!! Make him beat Max Gawn before you give him an afl game
