LOL .. I read that as all being ONE-HUGE-HUMONGOUS-LONG adjectiveYeah we have too many dumb-see-ball-get-ball-even-if-it-stuffs-up-my-teammates-hold-on-it-at-stoppages-playing-thru-the-middle [type players.]
Totally expected a trade rumour with that bump
We also must also remember with his knee and covid19 he missed 2 seasons of playing. Absolutely no doubt with another pre-season he WILL play next year and I'm predicting early!I would have liked to have seen Sam play this year but in all honesty he wasn't quite ready.
When you see the amount of work Lycett and Ladhams do in unrewarded running, combined with their size and strength you realise the physical demands on an AFL ruckman.
Hayes is tracking well and should get his chance next year to show what he can do.
We don't have enough ruck depth to just let him or Ladhams go. Stick it out at he best footy club in Australia and when the opportunity comes next year, grab it and don't let go!
Lots around here seem to want to call time on Scott's career. He's 28 and a very good ruck, if not quite elite. He's got great skill for a guy of his size, wins his position more often than not and plays like an absolute warrior. If someone wants his spot they'll be needing to prize it from his cold dead hand. He's contracted until the end of 2023 which lines up with the end of Lycett's contract. I don't think Lycett is going to see out the contract as a regular member of our team. I would think Hayes will get a fair look in next year provided he stays, but who knows? If we were a team in the middle of a rebuild I wouldn't hesitate playing the young guy, but you can't rely on someone so inexperienced when your expectation is a flag.
Fascinated to see how the coaches potentially try to balance this.

Yeah more of a response to the vibe of a number of posts than yours specifically. My point is he'll be 30 at the end of his contract and still in prime age for a ruck. If Hayes gets a crack and proves undroppable, awesome, but going past Lycett is a pretty high bar.Where does it say that I want to call time on Scooter? I openly said in the aforementioned post that because we are contending I wouldn't be just giving the #1 ruck role on the regular to a guy who hasn't played at AFL level before. He will need to be eased in regardless.
I love Scooter but he has his limitations and his knees are an issue at times. I don't think it should be an expectation that he should be a walk up start in the #1 ruck role next year in games where the oppo don't have a true elite #1 ruck.

Think we "manage" Scott and Pistol next year, and Hayes gets a taste with 5 or 6 games to educate him regarding where he needs to improve.Sam Hayes has been on the list for 4 seasons. He lost a season with an ACL reco and a season with covid, playing some mickey mouse practice games last year. His development has been stalled by bad luck and bad timing.
I suspect Sam and the club are clear on his development and the hindrances he has faced and are both well aware of where he is at before he gets an AFL debut.
No need to trade him, no need for him to walk away.
With 1 round to go, he currently leads the hitouts stat in the SANFL. Also in the top 10 for contested marks.

I hope not, but its possible.Wil Hays be be involved in the Dawson trade - Sydney are after a Long Term ruck replacement for Hickey
Lycett can't defend, he should never be in the back 50.Hayes has to play in 2021. I’d start him 1R.
He’s a genuine tap ruckman that can drop a kick behind the ball and take a grab. Needs to play.
I reckon Lycett is the elephant in the room. What chance we can turn him into a KPD? Too slow?
