Interesting development. Wonder how this impacts the local planned search tomorrow?

Haven't managed to glean much locally the past few days. Had fire debris from Burrumbeet landing at home last night, so a bit preoccupied.

(Also been away in Sydney taking taekwondo classes and visiting ch10 studios... that's a joke btw. I was nowhere near those tragic events. ☹)
Yeah not sure joking about a young kid getting murdered is what I’d be rolling with buddy.

Well if you've played a long game, pre-planned for years, had an alias and other family (spouse #2 with kids) in another town, 2 x remote-ish jobs working largely online...

I'm just spit-balling of course... 😳

Where would this second family be, just for future reference if there's a disappearance of a man called Geoff born in 1979?

The advent of the digital age would sort of stuff that up wouldn't it? Just about everything requires some sort of digital ID these days. Massive footprint, hard to conceal anything, and easy to detect duplicates or anomalies.

Yeah let’s turn a murdered child into a joke…..
Poor taste.

That certainly was not my intention, but yeah that post doesn't read well, have deleted the offending text, thanks for the feedback.

He told reporters Ms Murphy’s husband Mick Murphy and “everyone” in her personal life was now a “person of interest”, though he stressed Mr Murphy was not a suspect in her disappearance.

No arrests or charges have been laid.

“We have a number of people that we are speaking to and I can say the family have been absolutely fantastic in co-operating with police,” he said.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that. It’s just that they don’t want to rule anything in or out.

Police are really putting on some pressure over the last 48 hours. I expect this one to get solved, I wasn't so confident a few days ago.

Advice for future crims as obvious as it may be, leave the phone at home and ditch the phone of your victim asap. Seems like the phone pings have tied a few things together and they just need something to seal it.

ABC 700pm news just reported police are sifting through 12,000(!) hours of CCTV footage in relation to Samantha's disappearance

Zidane98 looks like assumptions by many of us on here that CCTV was limited or over written or non existence was not quite correct. Police been quietly sitting on a mountain of it!

Tbh, I'm surprised there's that much, but multiplying various residences, businesses, possibly uni etc by volume of stored data on each camera/device maybe I shouldn't be. No indication how much of that is dashcam vs static cameras.

Hopefully some significant detail and evidence come to light - if they haven't already and police are keeping that tight at this stage too.

Noted. Thanks.

Report on ABC Radio at 7pm has the police saying they have another 500 or so pieces of digital information to go through. I'd say it's the pressure build alright.

This is the issu, 99% of it is useless, but the 1% might provide a car or something…

12,000 hours of CCTV in the same report!
Edit: sorry cctv was in the 700pm TV news, not radio.
They said 500 left to go through. As it's radio it's generally more local and more up to date than the tv. Either way they have been sifting through a lot.

They could make that cctv open source and the public could volunteer their time watching it imo. That's a lot of hours to get through.

They could put safeguards in and there would probably be enough of the willing, it could be checked twice to be sure.
