With the season almost upon us we've decided to run a new and innovative game, (aka ripped off from other boards) The Goal Kicking Game
"What's the Goal Kicking Game?" . Well, it's a game. And it's to do with goal kicking. Now this may seem like a foreign concept to the die hard lions supporter who killed all their brain cells with too much alcohol and can't remember back more than 5 years ago, but believe me goals do exist. The comp has been carefully named after our undoubted lord and saviour Josh Schache, so get on board the hype train people!
Basically the premise is to nominate a player before each game. If that player kicks a goal you move on to the next week, if they don't you're out. Simple hey? Well this is the AFL, nothing is that simple and there are a bunch of convoluted rules designed to confuse and irritate.
Rules
Basic plot: You have to pick a Lions goal kicker each week. If he kicks a goal you move on to the next round. If he doesn't you're out. Can't pick the same player twice. Last person left wins.
Selections: You make your selections in this thread. Your selection must be in by the first bounce. If you pick someone twice you're eliminated. You can change your selection right up until the first bounce if you get a late vibe. Please edit your original post, don't post another one if you want to change your mind. If two posts are made I will take the first one so make sure you edit.
Late changes: If your selected player is named in the 22 but is a late withdrawal then you get whoever comes in for him. If there's more than one late change then I'll match up players alphabetically to work out who replaced who.
Forgetting: If you forget to put in a goal kicker you will be allocated the Lions player with the lowest guernsey number that you are eligible to pick.
Tiebreaker: As the competition goes on I will count your goals. Eg if you pick Schache this week and he kicks 5 goals then those goals go against your name. If our final participants all bomb out at the same time then the winner is whoever has the most goals up until that point. If the remaining participants are also equal on goals then each of them will get 1 point if they got the highest goal kicker for that round. If we're still tied after that we'll have joint winners who will unfortunately split the prizemoney (note there is no prizemoney as Zoblitz spent it all on spare batteries for his phone).
Names: Please use either the players full first and last name (if the same surname) or a players full Last name. Nicknames and abbreviations will not be accepted in order to avoid any ambiguity going forward.
If we finish this comp fairly early in the year we'll probably run another starting the next week but we'll wait and see how far into this season this one goes.
