I think to the contrary the Geelong Wolves is a fantastic place to start a career. Way more opportunity there then anywhere else and when they can be bothered the core group of posters is as good as BRAB and Blacky.

so still shit?

I don't know why anybody chooses to shit on teams in the sign up threads, especially ones that need injections of new players. It's pretty shameful from a league perspective.

How does joining a side work? Do I wait for the current season to end?

Also, is there a basic run down on how the league / scoring etc. works somewhere? Forgive my ignorance.
If you think you're a chance at winning the rising star then wait

Otherwise it's a free hit at a finals side

The SFA was started by Mobbenfuhrer in about 2001 and originally had teams that were derived from the BigFooty club boards. Through osmosis and dispersion, the teams are now all of mixed creed, though in most cases the origins are obvious.

There are 12 teams. We play 2 seasons a year, one of 16 games and one of 17 so that each team clashes with the opponents 3 times. A match thread for each of the 6 games will be posted Monday evenings/Tuesday mornings, and the first few days are spent abusing, belittling, amusing and fondling the opponents. By 11.59 pm Thursday nights, both captains have to name their teams for the Sunday afternoon/evening game, listing players in positions and noting any changes to the previous week's team. This is to allow the simmers, a group of players from various clubs, to input the teams into the Qooty program and sim the game. Obviously, they are not allowed to sim games involving their own team.

The simmers forward the completed games to a match posting commitee. These guys and girls post the games in the Match threads, often with long pauses for dramatic effect. At the end of the game, the stats are posted, we all brag about our superior performance over which we have no control, laugh at the poor performances from the other teams, electronically shake hands and move on.

There are awards given by the league and by the clubs for performances. First season players are in contention for the EKA medal for best rookie in the league. This is voted on by the committee of club captains at the end of the season, and is based on posting quality and contributions to the league. It is NOT based on playing performance, as this is completely at the random mercy of the sim.

To be fair i was shitting on brab and blacky. I like the wolves and am of the opinion that what the trolls are trying to do is reprehensible

BRAB and Blacky have been given the license as the 13th team and they are trying to recruit.

Thanks very much for the run down!

You mention posters have no control over their performance - as a result of the simulations, do the 'players' get better and worse, or is it completely random each time?

Random each time, but obviously positions like rover get the ball more than a back pocket and the full forward kicks more goals etc

It's always random. No weighting is given to experienced players, form or home ground advantage. The sim can and does randomly shift or bench players during games. Some players seem to get a better run than others ( :) ). It's a bit quirky by necessity, but generally cyclical.

Funnily enough, if the players going into the trolls bid focused their attention on fixing the Wolves we'd be closer to having 12 stable clubs than ever before. Stunts like these are why real expansion remains so distant.

Information has come to light portraying the Geelong Wolves as a poor choice.

Open to rival offers!
Join us mate, you can be captain if you like

If we replaced the Wolves with the Trolls we'd have 12 stable clubs...keep the Wolves things remain the same.

So essentially, the goal of your bid is not expansion at all.

Sure. At least not anymore.

Originally our goal was to be the 13th Club admitted to the League but shortly after Haro's announcement, really, any possibilities of that happening were removed with Willo's thread about the Wolves dire state. Whether expansion would have actually been feasible before things turned out how they did is up to personal opinion, hard to gauge after how things panned out and redundant to the current situation anyway. But, there's still a way as I see it for the League's activity and the future of all 12 clubs (minus an unoriginal moniker that's frankly already lost) to be improved, and have the Trolls entering the competition as well.
