Following fears that Dockers supporters would miss out on tickets at the 34,000 capacity venue, only 2000 of the visitors' allocated 4000 members' tickets were taken up on Monday morning.

It's good to know that after all the moaning from Fremantle about their members missing out on tickets, that every single one of them were able to get their hands on a ticket for the game. Well done Demetriou.

I have no problem with the game being at Simmonds, what I do have a problem with is that the AFL have decided that because we don't have a big supporter base in Victoria we are the only top 4 side that has to. I don't understand how they can shaft us there , but play Sydney at etihad or the G. If we have to play there, any team that has an away game against Geelong should have to.

Game sold out within hours

Scores of people missed out on tickets

It is a poor decision made by the AFL

I bought my ticket online as a club member at 9am but out of curiosity I looked at what tickets you could get when they went on sale to the public at 2pm. Was able to get 8 tickets together. Anyone serious about getting a ticket could have got one.

It costs approx $600 return to travel to Melbourne return from Perth. It is a four to five hour flight. Why would any travelling fan then want to add a further 2 hour car ride to commute to a povo regional town? I don't say that to be a snob either... I'm sure Geelong has it's own kind of charm... but seriously you can't compare Melbourne city and Geelong as travel destinations.

The numbers simply can't be compared.

If 44k attended a match where both teams were in the bottom four of the eight, and this year they are in the top four.... well more are going to go this year then. Anyways, I guess we need to stop crystal balling, as we will now never know.

Enjoy your first and last Geelong final.

Takes an hour from Tulla to Geelong.
Clearly if after flying you can't be bothered to either jump in a car for an hour or jump on a train for the same amount of time you were never serious about going.
I lived in Adelaide for 4 years and used to fly to Melbourne 2-3 times a month to watch the footy. I lived in the Barossa Valley so over an hour to the airport, hour from tulla to Geelong to go to the footy, drive back to tulla, jump on a plane and drive another hour and 20 home all in one day.

Haha. What did you think the AFL would say? Funny that some people are still naïve and gullible enough to believe anything coming out of the AFL.
Dude it's official not some random thing the afl said. The tickets were available and your supporters don't want them. Your club have been proven to be giant hypocrites.

6PR report that Geelong members didn't buy as many of their allocation as the Dockers did of theirs. Any truth to that?

25k were bought by Geelong members today.
2k by Fremantle members.
6k by neutral/non/members.

Because they're a true supporter who wants to support their team?

"People don't want to go to Geelong" quick, somebody call Ripley's

What is actually interesting is that a top 2 club with 43,000 members playing in what could be their only true home final still couldn't sell out their full allocation. Pathetic really

The majority of the ground was priced as premium ($80+ for an adult ticket) and our next match will be a cut throat home final (semi or prelim). Plenty of members chose to save their money for future finals or potential GF tickets. Can't argue with that.

Will all of Collingwood's 80k members show up on Saturday night? All of Hawthorn's 50k members on Friday?
